  • DeSantis stealing Trump votes requires him to run as an independent. If he loses the primary and doesn't go independent, all those votes just go back to Trump. I haven't heard anything about an independent run from him, but I might have just missed something.

  • I had to hide a bot that was just mindlessly reposting hundreds of Reddit posts to related Lemmy communities. I also had to block a sports instance that had a bot for EACH FOOTBALL TEAM posting the results of every game. Twice. Both teams bad their own communities and bots.

This one is a breath of fresh air.

  • A good question. Moderate vs radical isn't a measure of willingness to do violence, rather the belief that society must be replaced vs reformed. Radicals think the system is not fixable or not worth fixing and should be replaced by a different system. Moderates believe that the system is good, but needs to be fixed.

Radical beliefs aren't necessarily scary or violent. It is where a lot of the crazies live though, so it isn't a good measure of good or bad. Switching to facism, monarchism, feudalism, socialism, or communism are all radical ideas. Trying to regulate/deregulate capitalism is a moderate position.

  • A lot of conservatives aren't playing by the same rule book. They don't care that Trump committed crimes because they only care that he achieves their desires goals. All the outrage and confusion when conservatives support terrible people is missing the point. They aren't hypocritical when they try to call out others, because they don't really care that someone else committed a crime. They only care that they win.

It's not a contradiction to them when they cry about pedophiles and then vote for one. Crying about pedophiles was just a tactic to try and gain power and further their goals.

  • I'm not quite sure what you're missing. The entire premise of those post and this thread is that we don't think billionaires should be allowed to keep their money and power because being a billionaire is morally wrong. Why would we let them "win?"

  • The money goes where they want it to go, which is frequently not where it's needed.

And you are correct, they should not have the money, since they didn't earn it. They also shouldn't get to decide where it goes, since they aren't suited to make those decisions. It should be taken from them.

  • They sure aren't. They give up their wealth, but by doing so gain more power. They get to decide what is important for the world by dumping millions of dollars in their favourite charities. Charities that they conveniently get to put their names on to feel good about themselves.

  • I'm very interested in the ability to have a large screen when I need it. I am hesitant though. The prices are crazy, which isn't surprising for new tech. I'm also going to wait a bit and let them iron the kinks out before I consider buying one.

I'm also pretty rough on everything I own, so it's going to need to be as tough as a current slate phone before I look at them.
