  • Sure. No need to save up or plan for a future that never comes, so I'd stop saving up money and probably stop working depending on how far in the future it is. Then try to cram as many things that I always wanted to do as possible into my remaining time.

  • In total downvotes, when I expressed support for a smoking ban. I can understand why some people would downvote that I guess.

Proportionally, calling out Hexbear for being authoritarian and rude on lemmy.ml.

  • Pretty sure I know. That user was banned from my instance after using an alt to create a hate/harassment community against a user who dared to ban them from a community (a dragon community no less).

  • Whether a mouse is comfortable is quite an individual thing and depends for example on what kind of grip you use. I use claw grip and a major factor for me is weight, the lighter the better, as I lift it a lot. I had a glance at those two mice and one thing I noticed is that the new one has quite a bit larger dimensions, so that might be a factor.

  • America is a powerful country sure (though hardly controlling the world these days), but I don't see how that would make me jealous. I wouldn't want my country in that position. It's not like the country's power improves peoples' lives, as America can clearly demonstrate. Your country's immense wealth is put into the military or hoarded by your billionaire class, while regular people are suffering or dying for not being able to afford medical treatment, something unheard of in Europe. I feel pity there, rather than jealousy.

All that power you have will now be wielded by some fascist clown who is threatening to throw the world into disarray. I am angry and worried about that, so you I guess can call me "salty" if you want. The average American might not be to blame for that, but quite a lot of Americans who voted for this shit sure are.

  • I found 6 hours a day with flexible working times quite comfortable, working from home monday to friday. 10 hours would be way too long for me, can't even really stay concentrated on work for 8 hours.

  • I haven’t seen an AI make an convincing oil painting yet :-)

Maybe not for you, but search for oil painting prints on amazon and you'll find tons of AI generated stuff. The average Joe already can't tell the difference.

  • For professional artists, AI art is taking away their livelihood. Many of them already lived in precarious conditions in a tough job market before and this is only getting worse now, with companies increasingly relying on cheaper AI art for things like concept art etc.

For me, as a hobbyist and art consumer, the main issue is AI art invading "my" spaces. I want to look at Human-made art and have no interest in AI-generated content whatsoever. But all the platforms are getting flooded with AI content and all the filters I set to avoid it barely help. Many users on these platforms roleplay as real artists as well and pretend their art isn't AI, which annoys me quite a bit. I don't mind if people want to look at AI art, but they should leave me alone with it and don't force it down my throat.
