  • Babel is fugitive. We can reach the heavens if we work together.

Are you talking about the christian heaven or actual space?

The answer for both, via a space elevator, is no.

More importantly is thinking aliens are like humans really an issue?

Of you are talking about fiction? No.

If you are talking about reality? Yes.

Humans are a fluke of random evolution on one planet, that is all.

  • Also story of babel tells us we can make space elevators

Relying on the bible for science info....

Do you think the world flooded as well?

With everything we currently know about material science, space elevators are impossible on earth.

The moon with 1/6th G Sure.

    Mars with 1/3 G possible.

Earth at 1G sorry but no.

All the rest is thinking aliens are like humans or that SF has anything to do with actual science.

  • Yep. Basically every alien invasion story is a retelling of human colonialism but replacing the less advanced people with Earth and the more advanced with Aliens.

There is nothing on earth, resource wise, that cannot be found in every star with a planetary system in the galaxy.

  • you can afford it.

The money is transferred to the registrar and you get to use the domain.

    you can't afford it.

The transaction fails as some point. The money is not transferred, you don't get to use the domain.

  • When ever one human culture fucked over another it was because they has something the invaders wanted.

Aliens haven't visited earth for the simple reason that if there are civs advanced enough to travel interstellar distances, something that is impossible with our current understanding of physics, there is nothing we naked apes have that they would want or need.

  • Do you know what would impress me more than this flashy promo bullshit?

Seeing a parking lot at a Tesla factory filled with these things being loaded on to trucks for delivery to customers.

What is it now 4 years since this boondoggle was announced? And you still cannot buy one...

You can walk into a ford dealer and buy an electric f150 but all there is on Tesla's website is still Sign up for the waiting list...

Tesla did really well kicking off main stream electric cars but they have wasted that advantage and the last decade.

  • Congratulations, you actually posted an unpopular opinion.

I think the best comment in response is from @mawkishdave.

I bet you would think different if his actions directly impacted you.

That said, celebrating someone dying in the way that’s happening now shows disrespect to human life

The man in question disrespected human life his entire life. He is just receiving what he dished out.

  • The whole basis of the cold war was MAD (mutually assured destruction).

IE: If you are stupid enough to nuke us, we will wipe you off the map as well.

So, this is no different to the US. UK, France, Russia, China, India and Pakistan having nukes.

  • The last decade has shown that the protection of the US nuke umbrella is one election result away from disappearing.

The war in Ukraine has shown that if you don't have nukes and your opposition does, you are vulnerable. It is easy for people who live somewhere that does not have a nuke armed neighbour that has stated they want to take you over (Ukraine, Sth Korea, Taiwan etc) to worry about nuclear proliferation.

I don't like it but I completely understand why such countries would want nukes that they control.

  • Any thoughts on solutions to the problem of losing your phone

Having a backup copy of your password manager on more than one device and location.

I have mine on phone, pc and usb drives.

Single points of failure are always a problem.
