An educated public is great. A highly educated public, all the better. In my eyes there is no over educated, but rather jobs should not be below certain people to do. One on the best bakers / pastry chef's I worked with got his first degree in chemistry (which he still loves chemistry and does projects as side hobbies).

I'm sorry, what? Are there pro Chinese EV people? Like, they seems like fine cars and are cheap... But everyone knows what they are getting with them. It like buying a 10€ hand knitted fast fashion sweater; you got to know some poor slave kid made that shit and simply not care.

Is this not standard Chinese building practices? I saw a docu on this when building infrastructure for the silk road projects. It is not OK in any way, and should be stopped, but should also be expected.

I see where you are going, but you probably should focus less on the guns. Most Americans don't regularly shoot guns, even those that have them. A whole lot also don't own any. But lead is all over in shit like water pipes. Other heavy metals and chemicals are present in higher levels than allowed elsewhere. Also full metal jacket is much more common than it used to be which reduces the lead particles when shooting.

Same, this number seems way too low. Even from my skewed perspective of a "old guy" - fastly nearing 40.

Of course as people pointed out, this is far from a uniquely American thing. Also, I'm sure by American they mean the USA, but "Americans" are inclusive of north, central and south America. Here in Europe, we also expect people to speak English as it is the universal language.

As a side note, it is also often commented that Americans (USA Americans) can only speak English. This is a narrow view that primarily broadly looks at white Americans and ignores the fact that the US is a huge melting pot of cultures and for many US citizens English is their second or third language.

The specs required for these games is low, fortunately. Cheaper gaming laptops typically go for twice your max budget. Looking for a used laptop is the way I would go with the budget. I have the specs for fortnite below, but keep in mind, these are the minimum expectations not what you should get. I would search for something with 1.5-2x these specs if you expect your kid to have the laptop for more the 3-4 years and the demands of future games.

Is that obsolete or obscure (in German speaking areas)?

The typical dosage is 2 for all of them (excluding the rand german pill - the one that you have no idea what it is). It's also ibuprofen, but you would never know it. Does that help at all with you being skeptical?

All of that is the same here in Germany. Check out the stats on home ownership here... But oh man are the kids flipping to the AfD (far right nazi party) quick and in huge numbers. It's scary to see.

Advil is the main brand name for this. I always buy a bottle and other pills when I'm in the US. It is way more than I need but what I like is all the US pills look different. I always have a little mixed bottle of Advil, Pepto Bismol (fixes everything stomach related), anti-histamine pills... with me for when I need them. You can mix them all together and still tell the difference between them. That's what I don't like about the European blister packs of unidentifable white pills. That and I hate blister packs. It is also cheaper to buy a bottle. But to be clear, I get like a bottle of 50 or 100. Advil is also enteric coated so it is better for your stomach and tastes better (it's slightly sweet).

For me things were not in meters or feet but hours driven. From my home town the nearest stoplight was 1.5 hours away by car. This is also the closest chain restaurant (like McDonald's or simular). We had a school bus, but other than that no public transit. The next town over (15 minutes) has a supermarket.

Also... I don't know if I ever will have an opportunity like this again... I would love a feature like I had in RIF (Reddit is Fun), and that is to be able to collapse all child comments in the comment section! It removes a lot of clutter and you can then expand the child comments when you want more on that topic. I use Jebora for lemmy for reference.
