Prove it. Trawl through thousands and thousands of images and videos of child sexual assualt and tell me which ones were AI generated and which were not. Prove the AI hadn't been set up to produce CSAM matching a real child's likeness. Prove it won't normalize and promote the sexual assault of real children. Prove it wasn't trained on images and videos of real children being raped.

Legalising AI-generated child pornography is functionally identical to legalising all child pornography.

Almost like "small government" was just a bullshit excuse to cut social services and avoid regulating against the unchecked greed and exploitation of wealthy executives, not something they genuinely believed.

They're not going to. There is an insane amount of entitlement around people's jerk off material. Right here on Lemmy, I've seen someone (who denied being a child) call pornography a "human right" and groups of people insisting they should be able to openly trade images of child rape as long as they're AI generated.

Yep. Reddit puts very little effort into preventing vote manipulation and astroturfing because it all looks like user engagement but they almost certainly know how common it is.

This is just them monetizing the astroturfing as they try and wring every cent from people ahead of their IPO.

If we actually followed the "your gender identity is mildly inconvenient to me so should be banned" crowd and made everything unambiguously gendered, language would become far more awkward.

I know they exist (because I've also known them) but you'll never find one on the internet because the more horrific the social cost of American gun laws grows, the more grandiose the justifications for doing nothing need to be.

Imagine telling victims of gun violence "sorry, we can't make a token efforts to make sure gun owners aren't unhinged domestic abusers because some people think guns are fun and we don't want to inconvenience them".

We'd have gun regulations in a heartbeat if these "problem pretending to be the solution" gun owners were honest about why they want guns and when they'd use them -- it's why they lie about it in the first place.

Isn't it funny how they always have this self-aggrandizing reasons for owning a gun? They're always "defending their family" (until their child uses their gun to blow their brains out) or "preventing tyranny" (when they're not enthusiastically voting and funding fascists).

It's never just "I own guns because they're fun", it's always the hero fantasy. I guess if they were honest, we wouldn't tolerate the endless bullshit they cause.
