  • Oh, you should totally check out XCOM: Enemy Within and XCOM 2 if you found these games interesting.

The main gameplay for the tactical level is the same as Mario + Rabbids; it’s turn-based (you take your turn with your entire squad, then the enemy takes their turn) and you control up to a squad of 6 panic-prone rookies soldiers who have to complete an objective of some sort, usually killing all the aliens on the map. Each soldier can get a different class and choose different abilities as they level up within those classes, so you can sort-of tailor each soldier’s stats with the abilities they’d work best with. The major difference with XCOM is there’s also a strategic layer to it; non-fighting stuff, like managing each country’s panic level, building your base, and researching technology to get more upgrades for your weapons, armor, and fighter jets. Super fun strategy game if you’re into the genre.

  • Ackshually, it’s the complement - 45% is the main collection of the set of US voters we’re looking at, so the other 55% would be the rest of the set 🤓

But I digress - that is still a frightening amount of people who believe in the whole core belief of Nazism.

  • It’s supposed to be like XCOM, right? Is there a strategic element to it, or is the game only just the fights?

  • Only part of it, but it’s kinda crazy that studios can go “hey, you need to literally dehydrate yourself for this shot so your veins and muscles can pop out more easily.”

But this is also the industry where Stanley Kubrick practically abused his actors and is a celebrated director, so…

  • If the episode where Nog gets PTSD had a scene of him firing something akin to white phosphorus, it would be eerily similar to Spec Ops: The Line (second pic in the Plot A bit of the meme).

  • “They asked me if I knew the Krabby Patty Secret Formula. I said I had a Secret Krabby Formula for a patty. They said ahoy, matey!”

  • Braaaaaaaah, that’s also the ono kine grinds 👌 I was just making a dumb joke about Hawaiian pizza lol, but a BBQ Chicken Pizza is bomb.

  • Yup.

If it was actual Hawaiian Pizza, it’d have Spam and/or kalua pork with pineapple on top. Maybe some furikake for a saltier taste.

  • Can I stop the trolley Omniman-style?

  • TIL something new - I did not realize they have to have homes in both their home state and in DC. Actually, I’m kind of surprised that’s how it worked, and it’s shitty if the government doesn’t provide them COLA or something if they have to have two homes.

  • I'm responding to someone else and you crazies keep defending each other.

I’m actually just contributing to a conversation on the internet because I apparently feel strongly about this. Legitimately not tryna to attack you because I think you’re just explaining the premise the dude in OP’s pic has.

That sounds a little left leaning communist to me. But you didn't say that so I get you might have a different opinion.

I didn’t say it, but you’re also cherry-picking statements of the other dude to prove a point. Consider they said this:

Not this looting where opportunists loot stuff to make personal money out of an injustice, giving everyone a bad name.

Which, unfortunately, is what looting is a vast majority of the time - so can you say they support looting if they said they only support it in a specific context and not a general sense?

Do they support looting in an oddly naive and idealistic scenario? Yes. Do they support left-leaning beliefs? Seems like it. Are the two things related to one another? Not a chance - which I also get you’re just pointing out the premise from the dude in OP’s pic, but I just really think it’s a fucking dumb take for the guy in OP’s pic to have.

  • Hell, maybe even pull themselves up by their bootstraps?

In all seriousness, if you can’t live off a $175k salary in a country where the most expensive state requires you to make like $110k a year alone to live comfortably, that’s a you problem.

  • Which is a dumb premise - just because a person might not support looting (and rightfully so) doesn’t mean you support capitalism. The opinions on the two matters aren’t mutually exclusive.

Flip the logic the other way: if you support, say, socialism for example (i.e. anything that’s not capitalist), does that mean you support looting? If I support looting, does that mean I am a left-leaning communist?

  • I mean, you can argue that Google actually has a monopoly on web browsers right now. iirc Firefox takes a ton of money from Google, so if the choices are “Google’s proprietary browser” or “a non-Chromium browser backed by Google” (EDIT: unless you’re on Apple hardware and use Safari), then Google comes out on top either way.

Wish we could get another good browser engine that isn’t Chromium, WebKit, or Quantum.

  • $50 says she’s just doing that old Volkswagen handsign from those commercials in the 2000s

  • I get what the guy in OP’s pic is saying, but realistically the ones who are affected the most are small local businesses. If we loot stuff from big box retail stores like Target or WalMart, they can easily absorb the losses and they don’t really give a shit either - they’d most likely just consider it shrinkage. You steal the same kind of stuff from a small independent convenience store, and suddenly the owner has a very real chance of being forced to close down the store, even if it’s a local chain. And even if you looted exclusively from big box retailers or other big name corporations, you’re still not affecting the guys at the top because they make fuckloads of money elsewhere, and last I saw, you can’t actually steal from Amazon unless you’re fine with being a douche and stealing other people’s packages.

Looting doesn’t really do anything. Is it a form of protest? Sure, I can see the argument. Is it an effective form of protest? Fuuuuuuck no.

    EDIT: morer clearer message

  • So everybody who runs a mom and pop shop or runs their own small little independent store is now part of the bourgeoisie and elite like Elongated Muskrat and Jeffrey Bezos?

  • It’s because they’re redditors, and most likely still use reddit - including ones that were all “iM gOnNa LeAvE rEdDiT” and deleted their account and posts.

I ended going back to reddit as well with a new account because I still have some niche communities that still go on there, and I don’t really dig using Discord servers for those communities. I also think the fediverse is slowly becoming a worse version of reddit by taking the worst habits of redditors and combining it with (as far as I know, at least) underdeveloped moderation tools.

  • CD-R since it’s better for compatibility and I actually had issues with RW in the past where I could only burn a CD once and not be able to rewrite on it. I was burning them as audio CDs for car use at the time.

Nowadays? Rip ‘em and slap them onto an external drive (maybe even onto the cloud if you wanna go that far), then toss out or donate the CD so you don’t have to lug that shit around. I’d rather buy the vinyl if it’s an album I really like.
