  • The fucked up thing about plain money is that even if you have a million today, that million will be worth less than half when you retire, due to inflation and nrtions that keep printing more money to cover their expenses.

  • stop buying car parts first

    Oof. Same, brother. Same. 🤜🤛

  • What about sending sms to other countries though? I have free domestic sms but pay like 0.20€ for international (within EU).

  • What happens when you self host email but your home is offline just as someone tries to send you an email?

    Will their mail bounce? Vanish?

  • Could you please link to the right place, then?

I looked at Droidify and only found an old unmaintained version.

  • Lawnchair is no longer maintained?

  • GDPR is about/against unsolicited sharing of personal information. If OP's story were in the European Union, that would be a blatant breach of privacy, and the (phone company?) who provided that name would be facing a gargantuan fine.

  • I'd say fuck that. You were shipping my container, I'm not telling you how to do your job and I am most certainly not paying for your damages.

This is 100% on the captain and the shipping company.

  • It's simple. Ukraine is fighting to get their home land back. They are smart and will not destroy the power plant. This is undeniable fact.

On the other hand, Russia is driven by a power hungry maniac, and they have shelled the plant before. They also had their troops dig trenches in the irradiated soil - poor sods will all die from cancer, if not from acute lead poisoning. This is also undeniable fact.

If we agree on this, let's have a discussion. If not, I will consider you an unusually eloquent but still Russian troll and block you for wasting my time.

  • Because Russia deliberately attack the power plant, that is an attack on the world. It seems to me that you read it as if Ukraine did this attack?

  • I think you read that the wrong way 'round. It makes sense to me, in the context of being against the stupid Russians.

  • If they keep shelling a nuclear power plant, then it damn well won't be a nuclear ACCIDENT.

  • "Reddit is fun" had a feature with a vote threshold, it was something like "don't show posts with a score lower than ___."

This would be tremendously useful to have in Voyager. As an improvement, that setting could have a sub-setting, a list of communities where this setting does not apply.

  • I'm sure they meant "in the end" and not "it's about time".

  • Vimes' theory of boots!

The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money. Take boots, for example. ... A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. ... But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while a poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.
