I'm glad there are positive changes, and obviously those are most effective in healthcare situations.

However, from my personal experience as a university student in Canada, everything is the same if not worse than before. Hand sanitizer stations have been removed or simply not refilled, people straight up refuse to wear masks even when they're sick. A week or two ago in class, I saw many people literally sneeze into their hands and then wipe the snot on their chairs (and these are supposed to be engineering students!). There is still no ventilation or even filtration in any of our classrooms.

Not only is personal protective equipment not used by almost anyone, its use is actively stigmatized by many, including professors at school. To me this is completely ridiculous, but unfortunately reality.

It's passed off as being an authentic 'found tape,' or at least it was on release. Creator made a whole story behind it with an authentic looking website and all. If it wasn't made to look real it definitely fooled a lot of people on accident.

No way. Spinning rust isn't getting any cheaper these days and these companies are expected to not only serve all their existing content, but allow for free uploading and storing in perpetuity. Google is a great example of one of these massive companies trying desperately to reduce the amount they have to store. They recently ended the free Google photos backups and they are more aggressive with deleting inactive YouTube accounts.

I would argue that there is a fundamental difference to this forum style system consisting mostly of text and links, and a traditional 'social media' that is entirely photography and short form video. Correct me if I'm wrong, but TikTok, Facebook, etc. store all of the multimedia content on their services themselves, right? The costs cannot be comparable.

Better to err on the side of using too much paste, most of them are nonconductive so worst case scenario they just make a bit of a mess.
