They haven't banned it yet, they're just looking to do so at some point

Interesting report, though for me they have been just as if not more reliable than paste. Been using them for a few years exclusively and my oral health has actually improved, though that might be coincidence.

Either way, the most important benefit for me is the lack of a plastic package. I just put the tablets in my old metal tin, very efficient!

Toothpaste tablets. Pop one in mouth, chew, instant toothpaste. So nice to travel with too since they're dry

When I eventually need to upgrade I won't even consider anything that isn't repairable on a similar level. Hopefully they will be sticking around until then, but it's looking good on that front right now

For 3D printing to work, you basically just need some standard motors to move a thing that gets hot around. Yes it needs to be pretty precise, but it's only printing at a single point that moves. Classic 2D printing not only prints across the whole sheet at once, it is also sometimes expected to do it in color (which does take multiple passes usually). As for the technological aspects of conventional printers, I really don't consider myself an expert, there are great videos online. However by my understanding, a laser is often used to trace the exact contents of the page so that the depositing material is picked up and placed. That sort of light manipulation is already more complicated than everything most 3D printers do.

Basically, you could build a new 3D printer in your garage using off the shelf parts and some knowhow, but good luck even repairing a 2D printer with a serious problem in its printing mechanism, though this difficulty is certainly not made better by companies such as HP

I know I am one of those weirdos that asks for a lot from a mobile device, but I want something that can act as a high speed hotspot for 5 devices and a desktop environment at the same time, while playing back high resolution media and charging fast. This kind of thing has always been possible with Samsung's flagship, but now every generation it feels like yet more is removed compared to the older one. I'm still on the S21U and while I'm not very happy with it, I haven't seen anything better, including the new Samsungs.

Maybe I should set my sights lower, but it just frustrates me because these are all things my S9+ could do in 2017.

They are all kind of terrible right now, at least for me. I hate what the big companies are doing, and the smaller projects such as Fairphone simply aren't good enough yet. Guess I'll try to make my existing one last for as long as possible, though that was already the plan.
