A workaround you can do is, before launching steam disconnect from the internet, then launch steam, when it launches it will say no connection and give an option to launch in offline mode, once offline mode is launched you can turn your internet back on. Just keep in mind steam also has to refresh your games every once and awhile as well so you have to go online at /some/ point or it won't let you play the game offline anymore. Steam is super annoying in that matter.
According to the support Community this was fixed about an hour and a half ago, but I continued to have issues I had to manually log out again and log back in to fix it
if it was Amazon's method I don't think you would need to wait, iirc it adds it to your amazon cart and you can see pricing and quantity prior to leaving
I just wanna add, I am super excited for a world with that last part. No waiting in line, No dealing with stupid miscans on barcodes that no company wants to standardize the location of, pricing would be super simple(it would just appear in my cart when the NFC reader noticed me taking it off the shelf), you wouldn't need to find someone that wants to have the brain numbingly boring job of just standing there.
It's overall a win-win, the only downside is I can see heavy pushback from older generations because that will basically kill cash tender, so older folk who want to use checks or cash (or even the no digital folk) would have issues with the system
an alternative system I could see that allows cash tender still, is an online shopping with a pay with cash option at checkout, then the clerk gets your goods, tenders it and then gives your change. Or maybe continue having the self-check area, but if you're paying cash when you enter the building you grab a tablet(more like an NFC/RFID identifier) and all the stuff you grab goes on to that identifier and then when you go to check out you just put your identifier on the machine and pay as you normally would
unless this changed in the last 2 years, steam detects if a game has an "update pending" so regardless if you go offline, if it detected there was an update it prevents the game from launching. I tried to get around my parents crap download with that trick and it failed.

I limited my shopping on Amazon the last few years. Too many "deals" that are the same during prime day as off. Like I was looking at a set of weights, was 199 now 99, they have been 99 for the last month now, the "deal" is now changed to "prime day exclusive" and price stayed the same. Yea... definitely prime day exclusive... definitely worth actually browsing the platform for these sales.
sadly with the increasing DRM protections, the legality of it isn't as clear anymore. Breaking a protected standard is still illegal, which in my opinion is really stupid because if it was for archival purposes from something you own, I feel it should be in the same category as self repair/right to repair acts.
It's not a strict deal breaker for me, I use an Android myself. But I will definitely preach to people the differences between Apple and Android, because in the US there is a vast divide and for some reason they think that it's a status symbol to have an Apple device, and they will boast like it's some great thing. It's super fun to pull up the hardware specs and show them that my phone Beats there new iPhone in almost every category. Then I end it with saying that both systems have ups and down, apples biggest Pro is going to be their interface, but if you are a techie or want actual control over the phone itself stick with Android. Most of the "incompatibilities" between the two systems, are Apple generated, meaning that they've gone out of the way in some way to actively forbid it. Bluetooth is a perfect example of this, Apple devices support it for audio transfer and Airdrop uses Bluetooth for its transfer medium, but you can't transfer files strictly over Bluetooth because the functionality has been intentionally removed to allow the walled garden state.
I actively avoid sites that do this, if I find that I'm on the site enough to Warrant getting the app I'll get the app. I actually didn't realize that Reddit enforced this until about 5 or 6 months ago because they didn't enforce that when I first started using reddit, I had already moved over to third party applications before they implemented the system. Not that it matters much anymore, I uninstalled any apps I had for the platform and blocked it for the house. I'm done with it
I just don't buy anything with bright LEDs, if it doesn't require it to function then I don't want it if they want to add useless indicators to something that doesn't need it then they don't need my business
Right, so many sites try their hardest to have every thing hosted on their own platform, then they put stupid High restrictions on what you can actually do with the content because of the fact that they're now having everything on their own host. Switching from peer to peer to Cloud hosted was in my opinion the beginning of the downfall for Skype. It removed a lot of its permissions that you could give on the platform, it broke compatibility of the Unix Community which took them two and a half years to finally fix, and it actually butchered their reliability
I think a lot of it is to do with the actual chance that the individual is going to get charged with it, big companies generally go after the Distributors and not the individuals regarding it. Plus staying online that you did something doesn't prove that you actually did it so they would still have to get solid evidence that you actually did it which costs money A lot of times more money than they would have lost from the pirating activity in the first place which is why a lot of them just settle for sending a dmca to the ISP and the ISP for as it saying LOL you better not be doing this
They should be reporting it for not being a data compliant either, the app is marked that you have the ability to delete your data but in retrospect the only thing you can delete is your username, all your posts end up changing to deleted user but doesn't actually get removed
Personally speaking, I don't agree with hostile takeovers. but honestly I feel something should be done about it. it sets a potential precedent where communities in other instances can make ghost communities and just park the name. In a perfect world, the new mods should be someone who was active in the community and not some random person who requested it but, honestly that is a lot of work, and if the moderation team didn't bother to want to do that work, I wouldn't see it unfit to have the admin team make the decision, be it nuke the community, or reassign another mod or something. Honestly though it's their instance, if they see it fit they could just choose to do nothing but, I feel it would be best for the instance to not have parked communities, especially big name communities such as Android that people would want to have as a community, it hinders growth of the instance (not that this instance is in dire need of more growth but long term)
I would be all for an addition of some sort of "Dead Community" policy(if there isn't one already, but I have not seen it). It could be as simple as communities that are intending to park have so many days before the community gets purged, or it could have a similar system that Facebook, Discord, Reddit(although they abused this policy) and other sites have where it's handled on a case by case basis upon a request being brought up.
Mine wasn't a selling console, it was a "I'm sure I can fix this" and it was my old original Fat PS3 with backwards compatibilit. Back when I was first looking into technology as a hobby/passion, my ps3 stopped working, me being ignorant decided "lets take it apart to see if anythings burnt", well I never put it back together again when I was done saying I would do it later, I never ended up doing so, and while I still have what I think is most of the pieces, I'm 80% sure that it is missing pieces, but I also haven't had the time to do a proper once over on it.
thank you for posting this, it annoys me to no end the amount of "omg this happened now on reddit" posts that link to the source on reddit. Like that defeats the purpose of leaving the platform if I'm forced to go back anyway and give them traffic. Make a mirror, stop giving the site more traffic lol
