  • It’s mostly textures, video, and audio.

The game code is probably less than 10gb

Change languages in your game, I am willing to bet it doesn’t download a language pack for whatever language you choose.

You need multiple textures for different screens, resolutions, etc. to provide the best looking results. Multiply by the number of unique environments…

Additionally, it’s not like they can only use “high” or “low” assets, as they progressively load different level of detail assets depending on the scene or distance.

Same with all of the video cutscenes in games, they play pre-rendered videos for cutscenes.

  • Highly doubt they will even try to compete with a 5080/5090.

If I was intel, I would release a 5070 competitor much cheaper with more memory.

That is going to cut into nvidias top line even if it’s slightly slower.

In Celestial and Druid I would start targeting *080s and *090s respectively.

Work your way “up” the ladder slowly, so you nail every release.

If they rush it and deliver something that is 5080/5090 priced, but can’t match, they are going to lose their goodwill they have been working towards with Arc and Battlemage…

Patience is the only way to start winning substantial market share from Nvidia.

  • It’s not about the short term, it’s about the long term.

Windows should consider proton and steam an existential threat.

MS (and APR) give away their keystone software windows, office, etc in order to “get them young” and make sure that young kids grow up using their software.

Majority of kids interactions with computers is mobile, gaming, and schoolwork.

MS has nothing in mobile, gaming is getting more crowded and school both Apple and Google are muscling in
