A lot of posts here have given out wonderful and helpful ideas! I can't provide any more on top of this, but I want to speak to this:
How long to grow a community
However long it takes. Some communities never take off, some communities that seem obscure will sometimes propel to popularity. However long you keep at it is 100% completely up to you! As long as you are finding some fulfilling or enjoyment out of it. You don't owe anybody anything in this regard. If you are tired or stressed from it, there is nothing wrong with dropping the community you tried to grow. You tried to start something, and that is commendable in itself.
With that said, I enjoy geocaching every few months or so when I look into it! Unfortunately there aren't that many caches near me. I'll subscribe and maybe make a few caches of my own!
I actually interpreted it as if we were talking to someone at our side (shoulder to shoulder), we're typically walking somewhere. So I'm wondering if we are holding a phone up to the side of our head our lizard brain thinks we're walking somewhere while talking to somebody. 🤔
I'm kind of surprised nobody said Kia (and for that matter, Hyundai) yet?
JD Power has ranked Kia in the top 3 in dependability for the past few years and gave them the #1 spot last year. They also have a 10yr/100k mile warranty so theoretically they'll survive for a very long time.
They do have a bad wrap with the car thefts going on, but that issue is addressed with their newer models. I do suppose though that to a dumb "thrill seeker" that doesn't mean you're immune to attempted thefts.
I was the same way and then I found American Family. I also only started watching it to have something on in the background which is actually probably the reason why I "adapted" to embarrassment humor.
I looked up from the computer/phone/chores to appreciate funny moments bit by bit, started appreciating the characters in wholesome moments, tune out when cringy things were going on... Eventually I got invested into the story of some of the episodes to the point where I started to tolerate cringe and even laugh at it.
I have ADHD and I'll often find myself spending hours trying to find a fix, finally read the docs, get distracted, go back to finding a fix without the docs, remember that I was in the middle of reading a docs, and repeat
I honestly only watch them when I'm super bored or high in bed when I want quick laughs. But honestly, the same question can be asked of people who scroll on Facebook, lemmy, or Reddit hours on end
Oh yeah I was only posting dumb comments for content for lemmy. The issue is definitely because YouTube is pushing them front and center on the home screen of the app.
I've never actually searched for shorts either; I only ever watch my shorts via clicking on the "Shorts" link at the bottom of the app.
I'm sorry guys, I actually watch the YouTube Shorts so Google pushing them into more people is my fault. I just don't care to download Tik Tok and have yet another app. 😭
I'm sure others will disagree but I'm fine with this, especially since it sounds like you're being fair, not greedy, and have a reasonable exit strategy.
You aren't hoarding wealth, buying up all the starter homes, making them into unsightly mcmanasions, and then putting them up for rent like a bunch of houses in my neighborhood. Like 7 houses on my block are owned by 2 people.
I can't see anywhere which would explain why the school closed. It's possible that it doesn't have central air. It could also be an efficiency thing; maybe the AC can't vent out the heat fast enough to cool down the building when it's that warm? My house is actually like that when it hits around 105° outside.
The smart ass reply is they close down when it's hot for the same reason Texas closes down when it's only 30° and it barely snows 😅
