  • Ok.

But, in Mac OS, Windows, and Linux, all three of which I work in regularly, I open up a terminal and type stuff in it, open up applications in windows and work in them, and copy and paste between them.

Really, any DE can handle this stuff. Not sure what all the fuss is about otherwise. But it’s all good.

  • It’s wild to me how GNOME evokes such strong opinions in folks. It really is a love it or hate it kind of deal (I’m in the “love it” camp).

I wonder why that is. I like KDE ok, but it doesn’t elicit a strong emotion from me. KDE works fine, I just really like GNOME.

There must be something about GNOME in particular that some people love, and others hate.

  • Nobody wants to be the first person to “go there,” and really protest (beyond waving a few cleverly worded signs on the sidewalk). The first person to take protests to the next level (i.e., throwing fists, rolling cars over, occupying government buildings, confronting masked cops during kidnappings, showing up with arms, whatever) gets mowed down rather quickly.

Ineffective, and it gives the current admin the leverage to bring the hammer down quickly, before an opposition can recoup and really organize.

People are waiting for a critical mass, and “the moment,” when they’re assured that everyone else will turn out en masse at the same time to set shit ablaze, French-protester-style. But nobody knows when “that moment” will be, exactly. Or if it’ll ever come. So, who’s gonna go first?

And who wants to go at all? It’s easy to talk a tough talk when you’re young and you don’t have family depending on you for their survival. Then again, those with children also want their kids to have a country to grow up in that resembles the one we grew up in (or, optimally, far better). So, quite a pickle.

Perhaps “the moment” will never come anyway, and we’ll all just whimper our way into Fascism.

  • Russia should mind her own business at home and focus on making Russia great.

i.e., start with social programs, well-regulated markets, infrastructure, education, agriculture, and so on. Clean up corruption. Establish rule of law. Create prosperity through innovation and creativity and enterprise.

Make Russia such a great place to live, that it becomes the envy of the world, and Westerners want to immigrate there.

Seems they can’t build, only destroy. Not create, only steal. Like the orcs they are.

  • Fuck these people.

I used to be a Moderate. But then the Right blew up the Overton Window and went full Fascist.

I didn’t move along with them. I stayed fucking put. But now, relative to them, I am a Radical.

    And I’m ok with that.

We shouldn’t be forced to move right.
