  • I can only provide anecdotal experience, but my old girl found her dream house. Old mining cottage type terraced house, immaculate renovation inside, great hillside views, nice enough place overall...

...she instructed her surveyor to have a look and he told her to run like fuck, the shared wall was pretty much the only thing keeping the house upright - his words were clearly a reduction of some larger issues, but that saved a repair and insurance nightmare.

They're pricey, yes - but they can save you an exponentially larger amount of money.

  • Depending on the size of the organisation or how it's funded if it's public sector, then it may well be the "restructuring" that's holding it up - and by that, I mean there are probably teams and managers screaming out for funded posts to be filled, but a blanket ban on recruitment may be in force while someone with a fancy title figures out the shit state of their staffing affairs.

I've had times when I've had 40% of my team's positions open, and when I've asked for authority to recruit for already funded posts (probably for budget reasons), I've been knocked back because "nah fuck you, we're waiting on the staffing review being completed". I don't really give a fuck about the future plans, I'm wanting to recruit for the posts we have now!

It's frustrating friend. Shit doesn't make sense.

  • His voice isn't much different!

I watch his videos because it's nice to have an insider view of what was the formative years of Microsoft's assimilation creation of a common office workspace. The anecdotes are deliciously 90's, the openness is refreshing, and the implementation detail is quite interesting.

My other half likes the videos because he has that quite monotone voice, with quite an even canter and the odd lingering pause that can send her to sleep.

    Win win.

  • Yeah that's a really good point actually. I never really thought of it like that, and I had completely forgotten about the whole Gasly debacle.

Fair play to him though, he's absolutely proved his point on his return to F1. Must have learned a lot from his year with Goatifi.

  • Awesome. I rather enjoy seeing him throw that Williams about like a stripper's bra - making it do things and putting it on grid slots that the machinery has no right in achieving. Good on the guy.

It does make you wonder whether RB dropped him too soon. I mean, he was awful at RB, but is clearly a quality driver.

  • I really like Zhou. As you say, he's not top tier but he doesn't half put a shift in, and some of his performances have made Bottas look a bit silly.

I fear he'll forever be a midfielder but certainly proven himself worthy of a drive.

  • Alright, I'm going to be a real pain in the arse here and throw some edge cases at that idea - not because I'm trying to be a cockwaffle (I can manage that all by myself), but trying to straighten out my understanding of these things...

In short, what criteria does the data have to meet to make it immutable, and can that be changed in future?

Birth certificates are brilliant for establishing time dates and places, but what if someone changes their name or gender partway through life? Is there a function to amend the original blockchain entry, or is a new one created that supersedes an old entry in the ledger?

  • I'm fortunate in as much that my professional accreditations (and being a part time student) get me access to all sorts of discounts, but even still it's worth asking for a student discount (or whatever they offer at the till) all the same.

Nine times out of ten, the retail staff aren't paid enough to give two fucks, so they'll just put it through as whatever discount appears on their till.

The worst they can say is no, after all - and that costs nothing.
