  • Why in god's name would you choose to put it down a leg‽ That shit will give you the worst rug burn imagineable if you happen to take your pants off too fast or fall in a split or just sit down on your pants in a weird way where they pull against you if you try to shift in the wrong way.

  • Ok but it's not like that. John Wayne is a stage name, you're arguing against referring to trans people by their adopted legal name. It's still being a dick, yes even if you swear that you totally have trans friends.

  • People severely overestimate the lawlessness of the west. Only reason anyone even has that picture of it is because westerners realized it was an easy way to cheat folks who have never been west of the Mississippi out of their money in exchange for wild tales and performances about the cRaZy life of Arizona

  • We know from Big Bird's extended family that his species has a wide spread of individual variation, and given that none of them reside in the wild none of them are likely to suffer predation due to what would otherwise be a mal-adaptation, providing a springboard for even more genetic variation from generation to generation.

Just look at how wildly different looking specific humans can be from one another, even within a single community.

  • Probably won't lead to anything, China isn't led by someone stupid enough to start a war with the US by bringing the entirety of NATO into it at once via article 5, especially not with their eyes on the prize of Taiwan still (and also probably a good chunk of Russia)

  • I think some of them have a tendency towards hot take angst. They feel pressure to pull spicy opinions out their asses.

Only one I've seen be mostly unaffected by this os Kraut, and that's mostly because he's just taken for granted until recently that all his vids were gonna be demonetized and has a day job instead of making his living solely off clicks.

Well him and Historia Civilis if you wanna split hairs on how much history commentary should be considered political commentary in the same way as punditry, that and HC is by no means shy sharing his opinions on the political matters which do arise in his videos, especially recently, he doesn't like clocks.

  • Strangely, this reminds me of this manga set in a megalopolis, and when the MC reaches what is assumed to be the roof of the super structure, he meets someone who explains that they aren't looking at a night sky, but rather at a ceiling that's far enough away to be difficult for human eyes to discern, how far away is that, coincidentally this gap between the "roof" and the "sky" is about the width of the planet Jupiter.

Guy literally has to use a telescope to be able to track stuff happening on the other side.

  • Also the IP aggression isn't entirely their fault, Japanese Copyright law requires companies to be waaaaaaaay more aggro than their American counterparts.

It actually caused such a controversy on YouTube a few years ago that YouTube had to release a feature to individual creators to selectively block their videos in certain countries so that they could avoid the risk of getting copy-striked because their video aired where companies are pushed to hit everyone they can with cease and desist letters.

  • Same goes for if it looks like a Tomato, those are nightshades and the only ones I know about that aren't deadly to eat are tomatoes and peppers, and the peppers only because the poison they developed doesn't kill you it just makes you feel like your entire digestive tract is on fire.

  • No, the point remains though that the rules of their universe would be connected to the rules of ours. The simulation designer would not be creative enough to design a universe that didn't fall somewhere on the spectrum of having a complete inversion of the rules of their universe or having an exact copy of the rules of their universe.

The design of ours is constrained by the context which the designer is starting from, because there are natural limits to what would be conceivable even to the denizen of a universe completely different from our own in its make.

We can't infer the rules directly from this information, but we can draw conclusions about what they wouldn't be.

Like determining the inputs of a function by reversing operations and using the outputs of the original as the inputs for that...only a lot less exact because universal rules aren't (always) numbers.

  • A simulation will necessarily be influenced by the context it was built in, because that is the context in which the designer will consider the parameters and purpose of the simulation they are building.

We can conclude as a result that the simulating universe is at least in some ways similar to ours.
