  • Also, modern tools are getting pretty good at dealing with text embedded in images. It isn't ideal but this partially mitigates a large concern (accessibility). Rather than complaining about people taking screenshots maybe pressure should be placed on the screenshot tools, and image formats, to better capture the raw text exactly and embed it as extra data along with the image.

  • Kinda. But as a purchaser I'd rather buy an expensive product w/ consistent experience vs something that only sometimes works. Generally OTA updates are a LOT better because I don't have to take time out of my life to go somewhere to deal with it. My time is worth a lot to me.

  • The kids will already be hurt … It’s a question of acknowledgment or if other institutions decide to ignore their deficiencies. (And, in admitting them, risk others students being subjected to their brainwashed viewpoints)

  • yes yes and yes.

I'm only here to add: if he gets elected again he will absolutely 100% pardon himself. I figure if another Republican gets elected there is still a high probability of a pardon if only "so the country can heal" (or some such bullshit).

    (Obviously only for federal cases)

  • Agreed, its not that they can succeed --- the original quote points out that "none of those reasons or feelings provide legal justification to violate the law". What I was wondering is if this is a HINT that perhaps these folks could testify about why they might have felt it was a call to action from the president. Like, did he literally call them and ask them to commit this crime? Would they testify to that in return for, maybe, having this weak ass excuse be accepted and they don't spend time behind bars?

Anyway, thats what I was wondering. (And of course this is a simplification. Probably a few levels between them and Trump)

  • “They may have felt compelled to follow the call to action from a president they held fealty to. They may have even genuinely believed that this was their patriotic duty.” She continued, “But none of those reasons or feelings provide legal justification to violate the law and upend our Constitution and our nation’s traditions of representative government, self-determination, and a government by the people.”

So if their defense ends up being "we were just following orders" does that mean they could flip and become witnesses against trump? How many of them, in how many states, would it take before all these charges land in his lap too?

  • Part of the difficulty being how much harder it is to build, make and do vs destroy and stall. The progressive left sees the fervent right tear down and block a lot when they have a slim majority and forget, in their righteous anger, that they're asking for a much harder job and need a real majority.

  • Opposed or Aligned... what he's doing is leading where the people are willing to go. This is very much Obama's game theory strategy (despite being more charismatic). There are times when I wish there was a leader on the Left with the charisma to really move things in that direction ... but then I see how well that approach is going for the Right (I have no idea why they find Trump so charismatic but they do!).

  • This new proletarian led society will then provide the outcomes that are most beneficial to the proletariat instead.

    This is not very specific.

What does this look like? Is it 100% communist, 100% socialism or…. what? Maybe some sort of regulated market with very high tax rates like during the “golden age” of capitalism (post world war 2).

Personally, I think I’d enjoy a capitalist society with high tax rates and a strong safety net. Some sort of middle ground.

  • I'm perfectly ok ignoring/minimizing my interaction with whatever broken system they install. I'll run bluetooth speakers off the usb ports and continue to use my phone or a tablet to get the functionality I really want. and of course i'll take this into consideration when buying new cars.

they've been trying hard for years to break into this market. EV (and tesla's example) are giving them an excuse to try harder. too much money is on the line.

  • I think the issue is the definition of "supports".

If you take your (valid) frustration out in the general election then yes, you are supporting republicans in a very material way. For example voting for a 3rd party or not voting (e.g. helping a republican win).

If, on the other hand, you get involved in primaries and donate to candidates that better align with your goals, even to the point of forwarding dems that might lose in the general election then you're not supporting republicans --- you're instead supporting the left side of the dems (and are willing to lose if you need to). The idea is similar to how the radical right wing has captured the republican party. Do the same for your position.

What really annoys people (it pisses me the fuck off) are people that see the dems lose by a vote or two, because some fuck dem sided with the republicans, and therefore decide that both parties are the same or that their best bet is to support republicans more. Its such a lousy non-nuanced view that it just highlights why the black&white super right wing "fuck nuance" people are winning.

  • One of the problems with inexperienced folks is they don't viscerally understand these sorts of issues. To them they voted a dem into the presidency and everything is just supposed to happen while they fuck off and do nothing until the next presidential election. Later they start to realize that they have to vote every couple of years, maybe, but it takes even more time and attention before they see the nuances of slim majorities and fillibusters and all that.
