I agree. Human rights and dignity are not negotiable. Not for mass murderers, rapists, Nazis, or Jeff Bezos. Not for anyone. Disagree, oppose, undermine, fight, but do not ever dehumanise.
I mean, the plot of Ghost in the Shell sounds pretty close from what I recall: Poor people can only afford cheap bionics, but cannot repair or replace them once support ends.
A) Evolution is not directed. If a pre-tiger happens to be a more advantageous colour, it will have more offspring. There is no goal.
B) An orange tiger has the same camouflage from its prey's point of view as a green one, which is the thing that really matters. There is only one species a tiger is afraid of, and it's humans. I would wager that the orange also happens to act as a signal colour, both to other tigers and other predators (such as humans). Less run-ins and less territorial dispute sound pretty good.
Considering that the general consensus here already expects that? No. However if you look at the other comments and the downvotes, a significant number of people seem to forget that Palestinian civillians are being ground up between two millstones, not one.
What? Hamas, an organisation seeking to eradicate Jews, may be capitalising on the (righteous) public outcry of Israeli war crimes? They might even be lying? Absolutely impossible, my side (TM) could do no wrong!
(/s, obviously)
Not meaning to dispute your core argument, but your bar for "most disgusting company" is pretty low. There are factual companies out there profiting from war and famine, misinformation and oppression.
Not sure if this is appropriate to this example, but these paper/cardboard wrappings can save on plastic: The inner container can be made thinner and is generally easier to recycle, as there is no need for printability or pretty finishes (not saying that they are being recycled, but they could).
Everything has to be perfectly sterile anyway, this is cell culture. Open tops STRs are not exactly a thing. It doesn't have to be pharma grade, sure, but food safety is a thing and you're not going to get a process certified without it. Main issue remains to be the cost of medium, serum-free or not.
I do wonder where you got that idea from, though. I don't intend to be rude, but have you got any kind of experience in the field?
Why would I need an immune system in CM?
This is food. It's cells, generally on a scaffold, that look like either ground meat or a steak or whatever you want.
If you mean vasculature: That is an issue if you want to print organs or large, intact tissue, less so for foodstuffs.
Cultured Meat. Without relying on any major breakthroughs, a price competitive with "traditional" meat is feasible with a few rather reasonable and conservative assumptions and developments. Dropping cows as meat source globally alone might be sufficient to slow down further climate change significantly.
It matters, just not in as much as one might hope. It is mostly a symbolic step, true, because no one will arrest a sitting president. But it shows that the court is observing and condemning the actions. Think of what might come after: Trump couldn't enter quite a few countries without fear of arrest once he is no longer president. Same with Putin, or Netanyahu. It makes international action so much easier if you can just say "well, there is a warrant out for you, so you better not show up". Become a refugee? Better not go to a country that might uphold the warrant. Regime change in your current country of residence? Better think fast, the new administration might just need a reason to take you in.
