  • It's 10 cents a year per Canadian.

Say what you want about their corruption and incompetency, by all means! But the cost to prevent/deter a radical opponent from harming some of our highest government officials is minimal at this point.

I know a lot of folks have good reason to despise some MPs, but do you really want some sort of January 6th insurrection event? If you do, that's a good argument for everyone else to pitch in their dime.

  • You need to be a certain kind of person to perceive audio quality difference. One, you need to be able to detect the difference. Two, you need to be able to appreciate the difference. And Three, which everyone seems to ignore, you need to have bought a sufficiently expensive device that can make the difference.

In short, if you have an $18 desktop speaker, get the FLAC outta here.

  • The trouble is that it's a slippery slope between "some are not infallible" and "all doctors can't be trusted"...

Well, it's not. It's a dry, gentle gradient normal people can easily stand on, but then someone rolls out the slip n' slide and we've been living with that for 4 years!

  • If you want to try to compare it to Netflix, sure, Ubisoft, I'll pay $13/month for every game you ever made, every game you ever will make, and at least as many game (including new releases) from other publishers. Then, yeah, sure.

  • You know why Blockbuster worked? I was a kid, and this was a long time ago, so the exact figures may be off, but you could enjoy and experience the entirety of a movie for like $8, or you could buy that new release for like $30.

And you got to keep a 90 minute experience for 24 hours, or pay a little more to keep it for a week.

Now, the great thing about movies is you only need to clear one evening to watch it, so let's say, realistically, most people have one solid 3 hours of free time a week to really sit down and enjoy a good media.

So, sure, Ubisoft, take your $70 game (don't try and tell me a video game is worth $120 because you're withholding half the content; Blockbuster also didn't try to charge you 50% more for a directors cut or extended edition), rent it to me for $18. Let me play the guaranteed maximum experience of say a 20 hour game over 8 weeks, and for just $2 more I can have it for 6 months. Oh, and last year's releases? Half price.

Somehow I don't think that's what they have in mind.

  • Great greta 🙂

  • If you didn't take like 8 seconds to read any part of that article, it says she has rich great-grandparents.

"Look at the great-grandparents she chose to have! What a hypocritical bitch!"

  • It is restrictive by definition, but it's in the top 5 most common dietary restrictions, and it's a government program for forest firefighters, not a dinner party with your friend's boyfriend. Figure it out and make it work!
