EDIT: I just finished reinstalling the card with a ruler in hand because I couldn’t take the thought out of my head lol. Spent 1 hour because I had to clear the CMOS after the cards reinstallation and first cold boot re-training memory, but now it’s technically aligned!

1. Just flash the latest UEFI, and please do because stable EXPO speeds require the latest version.
2. At least the Noctua instruction booklet says 5 dots, if I remember right. It’s been running fine here (7950X which tends to get quite hot) with a Noctua heatsink.

I agree. 16 is enough, but 32 is safe. And 64 is too much!

Arch (btw), but I’m thinking of trying Endeavour because it has nice defaults that I might’ve missed in my installation.

If you want to upgrade, get better speeds. AM5 Expo settings are quite stable nowadays, and the less RAM you have, the faster a cold boot is.

IMHO 16gb @ 8000 > 32gb @ 6000. I’m thinking of doing this in the future.

Totally overkill. I thought I would be running lots of containers and virtual machines, but really never seem to use more than 16gb total. And I didn’t set up a swap partition, neither.

I just remember the problems it gave me back in the day. So much so it earned a spot there.

I LOVE systemd, flatpaks, appimages, wayland, and pipewire. The desktop environment feel way more managed!

Sure, wayland is not complete yet (HDR), flatpak is missing some things (some portals), but the whole ecosystem is way more mature than before.

This is from someone who used init.d scripts, apt-get and dpkg, x.org, and alsa/pulseaudio/gstreamer.

The moment where it tastes the same, and costs the same or less, I’ll switch over.

Just accept that Ubuntu uses Snap for its packages. Same as other distros use other packages solutions.
