I don’t know about that. Where I’m at, the job market is not great so people stay where I work (me included) because the option is here or find another industry. The colleague of mine who taped a piece of paper over the robots sensors got suspended 2 weeks without pay for it.
Where I live there are no such protections. You find a job or way to make money or you fall behind on your bills which go into collections. The choice is between feeding your cat/dog/child, or standing up for what you know should be right.
Right but at the end of the day: you kick it, you feel like you took a stand, your employer either outright fires you or gives you a week LWOP and then you have less money (either temporarily or permanently). Cost outweighs the benefit for most at my work.
So obviously people at my work did this. They sent out an email warning us that abuse of organization property would be met with progressive discipline (like LWOP and dismissal)
More like makes false negatives and marked me 3 times this year (so far) as absent which required a total of 15 minutes in useless frantic Teams calls to verify my location to my manager across the country -_-
My workplace installed desk presence sensors and has a stupid little robot roomba thing that drives up and down the rows documenting who’s in their seats.
You can be Jewish and even support the idea of a Jewish homeland while also being fervently appalled by the actions of the state of Israel (Netanyahu, West Bank settlements, unarmed Palestinians shot/killed, houses being bulldozed, mass displacements).
I’m Jewish and I had the same upbringing. I got an 18/20 on a math test and my parents literally lost their shit. “WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE OTHER 2 POINTS!? YOU WERE LAZY AND SLOPPY AND THIS ATTITUDE WILL HAVE YOU DEAD AT 30, IN JAIL, OR INSTITUTIONALIZED. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT HUH? No hanging out with your friends for 2 months. If you object or make an upset noise, I’ll double the months.”
Look I know you mean well and you have a lot of faith and love for your people and that reflects really well on you.
What I gather from your message is that people don’t like this but also don’t have a sense of urgency but you are strong in your faith that at the last minute there will be a sudden moment where everyone will leap into action to stop the worst. Things don’t work that way.
There is an active coup of your country right now at this moment. It’s maybe not clear to you as a citizen because you’re inside the boiling pot but to those outside, these things don’t happen without being a coup. Yall even have a constitutional amendment for this exact moment.
I’ve gone out of my way to look for coverage of any sort of protesting. I saw a single day of scattered small-medium protests called 50501 or something a couple weeks ago. That’s it. Angry crowds in front of government buildings doesn’t sound like serious protests given the sheer amount of what’s been going on in that country.
All Amerikans deserve this and worse because they sit at home and complain online while a literal textbook definition of a coup is happening to their country. The country that literally screeches at the top of its lungs about the second amendment and right to have a gun “in case of a tyrannical government”. Not a single shot fired. No protests, just complaints. Y’all gave up your country without a fight.
Because this is what Amerikans want. They don’t bother voting and don’t care to actively participate in democracy. They’d rather have a strongman who tells them what to think and do. It eliminates cognitive load that could be better spent on TikTok or other short-form video apps.
