  • Thirded. Triced? Anyway, I haven't gamed in front of a TV or monitor in almost a decade. All of it has been handheld (either 3DS early in those 10 years, or now with either phone or a Retro gaming device of some sort, or a switch, I dont have a steamdeck).

And I haven't had a long gaming session in almost that same time frame. Games that I can pick up and play for 10s of minutes before I have to go be an adult again are the ones that get played the most.

  • Both sorta. I created my Lemmy account around the time Reddit started fucking with the API calls which affected Apollo, which was one of the best apps I've ever used. And I sort of split my time between Lemmy and Reddit, mainly for for the SBC gaming subreddit, but some politics and such too. And then within the last month I started getting pinged left and right for up voting stuff of all things, and then being warned about threatening violence (for saying Republicans should get their toes stepped on by the justice department).

But now I'm over here full time.

  • Having played Grand theft san Andreas, and Grand theft Auto V, the best part for me is driving around and exploring. I've tried doing the missions and such and I dunno, just not my thing.

So, a way I would enjoy the series more is like a free roam mode or something, maybe a crime spree mode too now that I'm thinking about it, where basically you could get away with whatever and not have your star level increase.

I guess just the regular game is a free roam mode, at least in GTA V. San Andreas locked parts of the map behind a "Hurricane preparation" excuse till you did more missions.

  • I mearly suggested that there should be more stepping on toes, on a post about a news article about Republican toes being stepped on by judges, and they sent me a warning that "I was advocating for violence". Like, no, my sweet summer child, if I was advocating for violence, my rhetoric would be more.... violent.

Edit: Decided right then and there I was done splitting my time between reddit and the fediverse.

  • I got two warnings, one in regards to up voting things that MAGAts wouldn't like (I forget the specifics), and one for saying that if Republicans didn't like getting their toes stepped on by the judiciary, maybe we needed to step on more of their toes, or their whole foot, or maybe even push them over while doing it. And they said I was advocating for violence lmao.

    Edit: added a word

  • This happened about 10 years ago. In my job, we have 'slots' that we occupy for our given speciality, so my 'slot' is Engineer. Well I had just gotten my Master of Science in Systems Engineering, and my work had Team Leader System Engineering positions that had to be filled. Seemed perfect for me, the only caveat was I had to bring my 'slot' with me, which means when I left my current group, they would be down a 'slot' and couldn't immediately backfill my position until the got approval for another 'slot'.

So I send my resume over, talk to my immediate supervisor, who was supportive and on board, but I also had to talk to his boss, the manager over the group. He says he would love to support me in my career and my moving up and asked me to describe the job. I did, including telling him I would need to bring my 'slot' with me. Well, his attitude immediately changes and he said no in a very gruff way and told me to get out of his office.

I stop there a minute, and still trying to be optimistic about it, I asked if that because my work and skills would be hard to replace and that is why he is acting that way, and that I would be glad to help train a replacement and maybe even do a part time split between the two teams until my replacement was up to speed.

He looked at me, sighed, and said it had nothing to do with me, he could care less if I left, my work wasn't that stellar, he just didn't want to lose a 'slot'. That really broke my confidence as an engineer and frankly as a person to have this guy just dismiss me and reduce me down to just having physical body on his team. I ended up quitting a few months later. I wish I had some sort of karma follow for that, but I was replaced within a few days. Thank god my bosses boss didn't lose his slot though 🙄

  • Just downloaded Jebora yesterday and I'm really liking it. I initially tried the lemmy.ml website as my first steps into the fediverse, but was sort of confused on how it all linked together. Jebora was a big help for me in finding instances to follow and just generally making my user experience better overall.

    So I second this recommendation.
