  • It's definitely a TOS violation (as is using any kind of VPN to access their content apparently) but I never heard of anyone having trouble with it. Either way, I moved off of other Google services completely, so it would not be a huge loss for me at least.

  • Argentina or (in my case) Turkey seem to be popular options. You only need to use a VPN when setting up the first payment. Your credit card can be from your home country, no checks at all. After that it'll just work and you won't need a VPN anymore.

  • To find a good instance, you can just check this site: https://join-lemmy.org/instances - I'd suggest reading the description of an instance and then browsing the home feed of that instance to see if you like it.

For communities, you can just switch your feed to "all" and browse through posts and see what interests you, then follow that community it was posted in.

  • Depends on what you’re after but I recently switched to Protonmail and they allow you to use your own domain and set up a catch-all. If you like what they’re offering in terms of encryption and all, it might a great solution for you.

  • Is there a reason Android studio is so fucking resource hungry? XCode is running way better with a simulator open and the other Jetbrain IDEs are just fine as well and so is any other virtualization. It’s just Android Studio that sucks somehow.
