  • It's so fucking cringe. I work in tech, I see how weirdly women get treated and I see their unusually high turnover rate. Early on I was told "women don't last long here" and it was very true, that woman in particular quit to do freelance work (good for her). Why can't women have a job fair? Men don't fucking need one, NEARLY ALL of the other tech job fairs are dominated by men.

  • Kinda neat, though I'm not really convinced that it's necessary.....I don't think a web UI is unresponsive, and it's pretty easy to just copy and paste magnet links. Also, if you're looking for a way to automate things and manage torrents remotely.....Radarr/Sonarr and the other 'arrs are the way to go.

  • Yeah it seems like it just took a little dip today and went back up, it's higher now than it's been most of the past week. Articles like this are dumb lol, stock prices are so random and volatile.

  • Good list. Honestly, if it doesn't have network interface binding it's not a even an option for me. It's so important to keep your IP from leaking, it should be a priority feature.

  • Are you taking about remotely accessing the insurance interface from the web interface? Qbittorrent offers that, and honestly I think most of the clients on this list do as well?

  • There are plenty of people with Plex libraries bigger than that.

  • It probably means that there are fewer useless background processes eating up your battery

If you're asking about gaming performance on Linux, then the answer is that it depends on the game. Some run better on Linux (Cyberpunk made headlines recently) and some run worse.

Edit: ah, you're asking any Armory Crate because they have the performance modes. That's just overclocking. You can do that on Linux, but it won't be as easy as using Armory Crate.

  • Does that actually enhance privacy at all? Or is it basically the same as using Google?

  • Their cheapest backup plan is unlimited storage for $7 per month. The catch is that it has to be Windows or Mac, they won't let you back up Linux with the cheap plan (you have to upgrade to B2 for that). Because they know most people use Linux for servers of some sort.

  • Yes. I do the exact same thing as you, a Windows Plex server with a huge external hard drive. And Backblaze backs it all up for $7 per month.

Edit: I'm also backing up all of my other devices on the network to that same external drive, by the way. My primary PC mounts that external as a network drive and uses it for a file history backup. And my android phone automatically dumps all my photos to that external using SyncThing. So Backblaze is literally doing everything for $7 per month, it's a great deal.

  • No, external drives are supported by their cheapest backup plan. It's NETWORK drives that aren't supported.

  • Yeah that's true, but you can avoid the algorithm by sticking to your "Subscriptions" page in YouTube. Or by using NewPipe or another alternative front end.

  • Fair enough, but I still say we wait and see before we say anything confidently. Apple has lied to us in the past.

  • people really wish that this was a hardware problem. It doesn’t look like that’s the case

Uhhhh well let's wait and see what actually happens before we say anything confidently, Apple is TELLING us it's a software issue but that doesn't mean it's not hardware. Their "solution" might just be throttling the shit out of their processor. Which, to be fair, might not even be that noticeable as iPhones have processing power to spare.

Remember "antenna-gate"? Apple told us they could fix it with software there too, and it ended up being bullshit. That was a pure hardware problem, but their PR people are trained to say "we'll fix it with an update" before they actually have any real info.

  • This is only for fast food workers, who generally don't get tips.

  • The obnoxious crap gets more clicks and views. It happens because we, the audience, reinforce it.

  • I think they're called "annoyances" filters

  • Doubt it. NYC is an enormous market, 10 million people (20 mil if you count people that commute to NYC for work). They might add extra fees, though.

  • I mean honestly it makes sense. If we assume that the average game dev is similar to the average "hardcore" gamer, then we can only assume that they're toxic little shits 😆
