I was attractions at DCA around that time frame as well! Got to do a track walk of Indy, previewed changed attractions, and got to do Tower of Terror no-show rides when I was closing.
I used to work at the parks and loved just hanging out. There's a lot of work that went into forced perspective and theming. Disney has always leaned hard into escapism, and it's easy to see why someone would want to be reminded of easier years.
The Temeraire Series by Naomi Novik is one I go back to every now and then. Historical fiction where dragons serve the purpose of air force during the Napoleonic Wars in England. I stared reading, but also quite like the audible narration.
Yeah, there's this weird agism I've seen. Maybe they think the 'young people' (30 years in this case) are bragging? I just view it as someone adding their context, nothing abhorrent ¯(ツ)/¯
Yeah, that's what I was trying to get at. Apple was (and maybe still is I'm just not in the ecosystem) pushing really hard for the younger generation to have experience in their OS. Including donating devices to schools
Apple was also hitting student deals pretty hard at that time if I remember correctly. They've targeted students since nearly inception.
They're also journalist students. I'm not saying apple is the end-all-be-all, but at the time (and at least in my company still) a lot of graphics people use macs
I do my best to be a defensive driver, but there was one time a Mercedes was up my ass and I was able to keep pace next to a Caravan and effectively speed gate the two lanes. I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me smile.
