  • I would imagine it was either a whistleblower or someone from a regulation agency came by and noticed. Tesla management found out, said "oopsie", rubbed their hands and followed with "we can grow through this experience". These companies have a budget for fuck ups.

At one point of my life, I helped audit/ book keep for a fortune100 and boy do people not care. I have seen some places rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in bills because they had only 1 person managing that. They paid their bills through a personal credit card so they can get the points from their bank. Really illegal stuff. They got fired for sure but I'm just saying it happens.

  • I will be honest, a lot of these vendors are lazy. They will see a certain waste that's not supposed to be there and they will just categorize it as something else. They have simple tests like pH tests and as long as you get in that pH anything is game. They don't care what's in it. It's kind of wild.

The way some people get around this is if you go out of range for their tests, they will just solidify the material and call it solid waste. This goes as a separate stream but it can be highly concentrated and more toxic than normal. This might go straight to the landfill with everything else. As long as it's not in your waste stream it's out of sight out of mind.

  • This is so incredibly dumb. I urge everyone who reads this to do something. I urge you to ask your employer what waste management companies they use and how do they separate waste streams. You will shocked Pikachu face to know that most people are fucking clueless. The people who manage the vendors are usually so bad at doing this that it's almost funny. EH&S people are so good at saving face and posturing on how well they operate but if you press them on it they usually don't know.

So no I'm not even remotely concerned about what Tesla is getting fined for because it happens to all the big companies.

  • Hololense glasses already provides the uses you are referencing for part picking with their dynamic 365 program suite. I have personally implemented some uses at a few locations.

Outside of sku management or manufacturing, it is a stretch. I don't imagine people using these for every day use. There is little functionality that currently supports any use outside of a workplace.

  • Realistically, if it has gotten to that point it would be for a reason(addiction, mental health, etc). You would have to address that reason. If you can't then there are 3 options:

    1. You turn to crime. Go to SF, it's considered a misdemeanor to rob anything lower than $900. This also applies per job so if you hit 2 stores and gather $899 worth of goods in both, the worst case scenario is a few days in jail. It's basically free money. You can keep doing this until laws change.
    2. You try to get government assistance in some way. You may need rehabilitation so you would need to probably hurt yourself and go to a hospital. Then after that's sorted, you need to figure out everything on the streets. If that means going to a YMCA, going through whatever process to get medical and food assistance, get temporary housing.. you can basically live rent free as long as you clean up.
    3. If 1 and 2 don't work, going to jail might work for you. Go and try to fake a serious crime and get arrested. You can then go to jail and have everything taken care of for you.

If all that doesn't work, you will need to put more thought into it. You could try panhandling, you could try to hitch a train to another area to live.. most likely though you are going to kill yourself.

  • Bad manufacturing practices that exploits a poor labor force. They use this to their advantage to persuade western companies to provide cheap service at the cost of their workforce and sustainability. They then turn around and make these grand plans of Eco friendly targets while their populace regularly burn their trash with little regulation. Then some regulation agency comes in and turns a blind eye to some foul shit as long as they are paid accordingly to play ball.
