  • I wish news would stop saying the broad term human activity and more accurately say corporate activity.

Yes, the general population contributes to climate change, but the real polluters are the big companies manufacturing things, big oil, etc. They don't care about what they're doing and lobby govt's to put the blame on the citizens.

  • When I hear gimp outside of the context of the software, I think of gimp suits. In my area I've never heard gimp used as a slur for disabled people.

I get that there's regional slang and what not, but if every word that offended anyone anywhere was banned, we would have to limit our words to the point of barely being able to communicate.

In my area, depending who you are, a silly term as "goof" is offensive. I almost got beat up for calling a guy one as a joke. Should I petition Disney to rename Goofy?

  • FUD has been a term since the 1970s. It has nothing to do with crypto

  • I see it more as us going back to the good old days. Websites and social platforms get hosted by interested people with the extra money to get a server going, whether it be for a unique website or an instance in the fediverse or other decentralized networks. Donation supported, nothing required. Maybe some donor icon.

Take the internet back. Quit supporting websites by big companies who have money and whose goal is to use you as the product. Support your fav nerds hosting the platforms you enjoy using. The internet had social websites before FB and twitter. We don't need companies to run the internet for us.

  • Ahh, the good old days of making different userbars. I think that's actually how I got started learning programs like gimp and photoshop lol

Anyway, it probably changed when social media took off. Preferences shifted and they fell out of style. I didn't mind smaller signatures with a few userbars and stuff, but they did sometimes get crazy if there weren't image size limits or limits of the amount of pics allowed in a signature.

  • This site is so good. Was going to post it if it wasn't already. Def my go to rom/iso site

  • If amazon was solely a marketplace they may have an argument but seeing as they're arguing the content moderation and targeted advertising to kids, they seem to be forgetting they own twitch, a very large online platform that serves ads out the ass

  • You inspired me to ask bing to create "an elaborate and unhinged rant about the current state of reddit"

It started to say very similar things to what notion said, but much more aggressively. I can't show you what it said because before it finished responding it deleted what it said and said we should talk about something else.

Caught something about toxic hivemind and power hungry admins though lol. Glad to see AI is on our side

  • Personally, if it's good content I don't mind a little self promotion. People won't see what you made if you don't share it. Just don't post it to dozens of communities, that's when it gets way too spammy. Find one or two you think it would a good fit for and users would find relevant and share it there, as long as that community doesn't have any rules against promoting your own content.

  • It's actually not that bad. I haven't had any issues with it

  • I'm one of those insaniacs who actually bought into stadia, meaning I got some deal on a Chromecast with stadia controller, so I've been using that. Barely used the service itself, but gotta say I do love the controller. The controller update that enabled Bluetooth mode was pretty nifty too

  • I started by switching to Lemmy, loved it, but as I read more about Kbin I decided to give it a shot to combine both content aggregation and microblogging in one account. A bit less polished than Lemmy and no mobile apps yet, although some are in early development and testing, but I've been really enjoying having quick access to the best of both worlds.
