  • "You were very confident and I doubted my memory. I wanted to make sure I wasn't spreading misinformation."

One of the quickest ways to deflate the person's argument, especially in a social setting. It makes you look humble and makes them look like an asshole if they keep going at it. If you want to subtley needle then, you can also apologize if they felt attacked by being corrected.

  • More chemical food dyes are allowed by the EU.

But their regulations are more strict overall. There are a lot of US foods can't be imported without reformulating the product.

Which fascist did whatever EU country vote for this term?

Bruh, we literally just elected a fascist felon who tried to overthrow the government when he lost the last time who openly surrounded himself with fascists pushing project 2025. It's not even a close challenge...

  • Preaching to the choir, friend. I knew she'd be homeless when I moved out, and still did it anyway. To add to the 'deserved situation' feeling, part of the reason I moved out was finding a shake and bake meth lab in the basement.

  • It's kinda amazing how people are just so casually racist among people who they have more in common with than not, but skin color means so much more.

My mom was like that. Despite "having black friends" and all that rot, towards the end of her life after I moved out and left her homeless, she was so racist against POC. Like I distinctly remember the day my wife and I had stopped my and taken her to lunch out of pity, and we discussed her situation. At one point, when asked why she wasn't willing to try to get into public housing instead of living in a tent city, she told me she "didn't want to be a light in the dark."

If, unlike me at the time, you're baffled by what that means, she was saying she didn't want to live around black people. Despite having had black friends as roommates within the previous handful of years. I still played dumb and made her spell it out for me in crayon, because man is it fun to make 'not racist' people explain their racism in no uncertain terms and make them squirm as they try to dance around it.

  • Why do you think there is a push to get people back in the office?

Because the corporate realty market is a bubble, and companies have to find a way to justify big spends if they can't get out of a lease, and plenty of corporate landlords can't let people out of their leases because then their buildings would be underwater and likely forclosed?

  • That one is amazing. Other good albums are mc chris goes to hell, mc chris is dreaming, and Race Wars. Dungeon master of ceremonies is another good one, as are the 3 part 6 albums.

  • Not when invested properly. Using easy examples, if you win a million dollars and take it over 30 years, say you're taxed 20%, you get $800k. You choose to take a lump sum and they only give you 30% of the value, you get $300k. Investing that $300k at 5% over 30 years, you've got an additional $55k over what you would have gotten over the same time period. Now, the average market return rate is closer to 3-5% higher than that, so that 5% return is a conservative estimate of what you have after fees and pulling some out for yourself (3% is a recommendation I've heard), putting you well above what you'd get from the annuity.

  • People investing any amount of money with someone need to make sure they're using a fiduciary advisor, because they are supposed to act on your best interests with your money. Non-fiduciary advisors can funnel your money into vehicles that enrich them at your expense.
