  • So far, everything gets backupped automatically, but on top of this, i already am in the habit of backupping important documents by hand in files that don't get synced. So, as soon as i'm editing important files, i backup them, on top of the sync folders. I will need to switch to manual backups anyway, since proton drive - which syncs automatically - is not yet available on linux, but they do have a web app where you can backup manually.

  • Yes, you're right, but at least they have a web app, so it's not a total deal breaker. I think a linux version is in the works, but knowing Proton it can still take a long time before one will be available. I also know that their VPN linux version is pretty shaky for some people.

  • I prefer an elaborate description, if appropriate presuming people don't know much about the topic yet. Bonus points for adding wikis (i don't think it's possible in Lemmy for now?) and links. And a friendly tone. Those concise oneliners, to me, feel like; if you don't understand what this community is for, you are not welcome here anyway.

  • I think it's a spectrum, ranging from being completely asexual to the other end of the range. Also, i would guess that the mind plays a big role in it too. For instance, people who have a very romantic nature - way of looking at relationships - will probably have other thoughts, feelings and expectations than people who are, say, more down to earth. It's probably a mixture of bodily sensations, personality (both yours and the other's) and mental thoughts about it.

Also, whether someone is open to attraction or not.

I would say to not let anyone or any book tell you what and how you are supposed to feel. Trying to put labels on oneself or others is not helpful at all.

  • Advertisements can be blocked or allowed. But my issue is with the secret tracking that goes on on most websites i encounter. I am willing to support good journalism, but i'm not willing to have my privacy invaded. Unfortunately, it is hard to separate them, because am i donating for good journalism, but also encouraging the tracking? When i donate, will they stop tracking me? Probably not.

  • Even on Tor, if you use the clear web site provided in the link, yes, you will see the box asking for a subscription. You can click the x to get rid of it.

Ah, ok. I just noticed the popup. Of course i did click the link that was indicated in the post itself, not the title.
