  • That sounds nice. I've been looking at serenade.ai and thought about extending their STT with an option to use another third-party STT engine. I would then like to extend their command engine with LLM command recognition. In my experience, maybe also with my pronunciation as a non-english speaker, their STT and command recognition really doesn't work that well.

  • A friend once applied for a job at Caritas in Germany and got rejected for the reason of not being catholic, but christian. I think you could argue that is okay, but by German law it actually is not.

  • We just put up our baby chair as well and our cats take turns sleeping in it. We even sewed an extra blanket with a cats pattern that we can strap on when the kid is not using it for itself. That way the regular kids blanket will not be so full of cats hair.

  • True enough. Yes, I would expect them to move towards my expectation once they got to know me better and once they see that I might fit into the team quite nice. At least I believe it more likely than weeding me out based on numbers in the very first call. I too don't have enough experience to know whether this is realistic. I just know that my current employer would lean into that way of thinking.

But, it seems that many companies can still afford to weed out candidates by numbers, at least here in Germany. So, I just have to do me as long as I have a secure position and otherwise, otherwise.

  • I often get ask about my salary expectation in the very first 10 minute interview with the HR person, before even getting the chance to talk to the team. Being sincere, I wouldn't get to follow-up interviews if I told them my expectation that they would definitely see as too high.

How do you deal with that situation?

  • Im on my last book of the wheel of time audiobook! Took me about two years to arrive here, maybe even more. It's superb! I hope to finish it before our child is born in August, so I can start with the next, rading it on my Kindle. Really can't wait to get to the end of it. The whole last three book reads like waiting on the next episode of a series. Constant cliffhangers. The next book will be the second and later books of the sounds of hyperion.
