The thing is your electorate let itself be manipulated like that and as you said the perpetrators are still very much at large. It follows they will manipulate the electorate again and there's no reason to believe the same demographic won't easily fall for new lies. (Unless they died off.)

This sucks for the Brits who knew better but it also means the EU would let an unreliable partner back in if nothing changed. It seems the pro Brexit crowd will need to learn the hard way that no really you were lied to and you still have to bear the consequences of your own actions (vote).

Being lied to isn't an excuse to accept racist fearmongering and plainly suicidal economic reasoning. Nor is it an excuse for the project fear slander that happened at the time. They were lied to and were also told the truth. And you who voted to stay also need to learn that your vote doesn't abdicate Britain either. You're in this together.

Yup. And the rerendum wasn't even legally binding.

I really would like to see reactions from France if Britain makes moves to rejoin.

Same for France and Italy. Nobody is making loud noises about leaving the EU anymore.

It seems the British (IMO the English in particular) need to eat humble pie and the way to make them is sadly economic ruin.

It's no good letting in somebody who is that flaky and loud and proud about it.

Making the same concessions and signal to every other country that you can just hop in and out on a whim? Uhhh I have a bridge to sell you if you really believe that.

I got the impression the modern British are an extreme manifestation of "truth hurts".

Also your mates and family don't really get how your marriage worked and didn't like your ex's politics for confused reasons.

I have had several experiences with therapists ranging from atrocious and potentially life threatening to merely unhelpful. I know therapy can be an important and very helpful tool tho. I'd be most interested in your perspective in how therapists can abuse their position of power but also be a force of good.

There's a nice saying in the community of people who heal from childhood abuse: don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm. I always found it to be a powerful and succinct way of describing toxic people pleasing.

I'm autistic, non binary, have ex family members that kind of home cooked their own cult, I'm an atheist now. there's plenty of emotional abuse in the ex family. Went to a Christian private school (different denomination than the cult), I'm intellectually gifted and chronically ill. There's some ADHD ex family members thrown in, I've spent some time I an African country and my current bestie is my cat. Currently using all my skills from studying a life science to improve my chronic illness situation.

I think there's some demographics that might be interested. Still not sure whether to actually write it.

And by then everyone else probably uses a different type of train magnetic super speed something and the Germans will still not have entirely figured out how electric power and rail work together.

Now I hope the people affected by this hoard straws. We live in a weird world.
