Their whole stance is bizarre. It would be like if I believed every country should be democratic, but if any non-democratic foreigner asked me about it I said, "well I'm not going to even talk to you until you've read every bit of democratic theory, and even if you do, I'm not going to admit or discuss any criticism of democracy. Also, you are evil for just being born in your evil country." They can't possibly expect to convert anyone that way.
Why is it hard to believe or understand that this, right here and now on lemmy, really is most westerners' first time interacting with actual communists? A lot of us dems are pretty open minded and a lot of us want the US to move toward socialism. But most of our exposure to communism has just been "communism bad." So of course we don't understand the fuller spectrum of leftism, because our fascist conservative party has forced everything so far to the right, and our education system is abysmal.
Then we come here and see a bunch of "stupid libs" memes, which from the outside we can't understand because we identify as liberals (leftists). You folks give off the same vibe of how our fascist conservatives treat us (own the libs, kill a dem to save America, etc), and I think thats why people assume or equate you with Nazis. We've never met real communists, and a lot of stuff on the internet is fake. It's entirely understandable.
We should really crack down on Airbnbs. Why make $2000 a month by providing a place for someone to live when you can make $500 in one night from a tourist?
I just asked Wombo Dream to make the Mona Lisa and it did. Sure, you can tell it's not exactly the real thing, but I don't know how you can say it didn't copy any of the actual Mona Lisa original.

Draft2Digital already exists as a way to publish everywhere except Amazon (and actually you can do Amazon through them too but then both take a cut). I'm not sure what the benefit would be for a publishing service to be connected to the fediverse.
