Its hilarious to me how this ai chatbot is doing the work of healthily socializing these dudes.

Like, i grew up in a... er- lets just say i grew up in an environment to say the least. I was hateful and bigotted towards lots of groups bc i was sad, downtrodden, and felt undervalued. Of all things to make me actually turn it around, the thing that really did it, was being called a white supremacist to my face by one of the few kind people i got on with. The kicker was, there was 2 ppl that said it. One was the one i preffered talking to, the other i put down as a suburban redneck.

My god did that sting. I didnt look em in the eye the rest of the school year. Really got me thinking, how can these two see this in me? How could the redneck be able to hold this over me? I didnt even say anything that bad. (spoiler, i did)

But long story short, that def did the trick. Or kicked it off, anyway. Thats whats supposed to happen to extremist opinions. They get brought up in public, and u get shamed and put down, not for being you, but exclusively that shitty opinion, bc that opinion has no place in the world.

I guess the chatbot provides that. Weirdly uplifting. If incels are deradicalized by a sexbot, tho, itll be weird to think that in the end what saved them, was the very horniness that got them radicalized in the first place.

Am (immigrant) American and i def understand the frustration others feel seeing our dirty laundry aired in all the public spaces. On a selfish note, however, if thats what it takes for people to take action or at the very least vote either here or literally any other country, then so be it.

I like the calls for ranked voting, i just dont like it as a response to calls to vote in the first place. Im not gonna try and sway u, but im thrilled u tried and went with whats best. I make music and the DAWs on linux are.... ill not say... so i do get it. I could run on a VM, but due to the size of the projects im running, ive yet to try it for fear of the VM or the DAW within it crashing. Its the one thing that i do all the time that forces me to keep my dual booting PC's windows partition, tho it aggrevates me so. So im doing kinda what u said, Linux is my "everything but music" OS, and windows is dedicated to just that and literally nothing else. I literally only installed firefox on it prolly a year after installing windows due to it not being used for that purpose.

We (the left) have been hit by foreign astroturfing the way the right was in 2016. The influx of youth that was supposed to save us by their leftward skew is running away from the political process bc they think theyre going to be revolutionaries. I hate opening this way, but, as an "artist," DL everything. Art deserves to be pushed away from profit motives and i hate hearing, "but your fave musicians wont get ur money!" Theyre not getting money off of record sales anyway, they hardly ever did. Ill put out what i make for free download. If ever ppl seem crazy enough to wanna donate, ill look into opening up those avenues, but its not like thats happening anytime soon. Way i see it, its not like i could stop if i wanted to. Why ask for money and limit how many ppl i can reach?

Now ill add,

I learned everything i know off of being able to have free access to near infinite music. Any genre, any style, all available to be perused. My tastes were able to expand, my mind was allowed to be opened. All bc i could listen to anything i wanted to for free when affording any legal music was not possible.

Ive done the band shtick too, and i honestly put more time, money, and effort into my craft now as i have to do all instruments largely by myself. Everything i do is bc of my tastes and ability to listen to more music than i could ever handle. Anything i make is a result of that. Itd be hypocritical of me to try and deny others what has made me "successful" (able to make whatever music i wanna make). Even if i did seek commercial avenues of putting my shit out, i would still not stand opposed to piracy. Piracy is why i ever got to this point in the first place.

Debate is not for convincing ur opponent, in these cases. The successes ive had w conservatives came from doing the opposite: convincing them that the view im trying to convert them towards is one theyve already held.

Indeed! I would add to this, we also heavily subsidize corn and wheat production as well. We waste an inordinate amount of what should be prairie land just so we can put up a bunch of beyond inefficient farms so that the rich can continue making money off of what theyve already been profiting off of.

Id also like to remind everyone that this sort of farming killed our prairies. In effect, this puts us at risk of another dust bowl due to the difference in size of root systems between corn/wheat and prairies tall grasses, and exacerbates the climate crisis further as prairies are incredibly efficient at pulling carbon out of our atmosphere.

Thats what im talking about! I dont like this whole, if ur a conservative u must just be predisposed to be an asshole thing. Theyre up against 50+ years of very concerted propaganda. The fact that u could make headway in the 2000s, or me making any gains now shows just how much effort it takes to keep them with their heads in the sand.

I harp on the point about keeping these dialogues open so long as theyre not framed the way conservatives imagine, bc that world view can be shaken. And while u prolly will lose many battles, u can shift the cultural conversation this way every time u have it. U can reframe the focus on establishing a culture based on kindness and mutual aid. They might not be convinced, but if their grounds are shaken, u will loosen things up for the next generation they try to groom on the whole. For one, they wont be able to claim so easily that all these leftists they hear about are out to get them.
