  • Its not republicans, its russian shills/bots... ok wait... yeah, guess ur right.

And for the life of me, his correct name that ive been pushing since 2019, is Status Quo Joe. It was an insult then, cant believe its a vague defense now.

  • The "ppl" pushing the narrative ur complaining about arent on Ukraines side, nor or they on the side of NATO. Theyre busy convincing everyone they can that literally all western news is propaganda and the only true news will come from state sources in russia, china, etc.

The goal when engaging that side should, for the sane, anyway, always be not to convert the person ur speaking to, bc even if they arent bots/shills, their bad faith arguments turn aggressive incredibly quickly. Instead, the goal should be to demonstrate to the onlookers the absurdness of the tankie's position, and who it benefits/who is responsible for fabricating the position in the first place.

  • As a freeware stan, i dont disagree. Ease-of-use v. a one time fee for many ppl is going to be a no brainer in not the direction i would go with. Nevertheless, i still imagine that the more free software alternatives there are, the more the overall quality of software will go up as well. Similarly, if there are more software alternatives, the higher the chance that ppl choose a stable option by an independent dev asking for a reasonable price.

  • Ive this one tagged as "Russian shill." Theres a bunch of these whose primary purpose on lemmy seems to be spouting as much kremlin approved talking points as possible, often attempting so lowkey, all while projecting absolutely nonhuman levels of confidence. They typically show up with at least a couple alt accounts just to upvote all their "opinions," and downvote dissenters.

  • Hmm looked my username up there to see what reasoning was given for why i was banned from world news after calling out russian propaganda.

Says, i broke lemmy.ml's rule 2. But i thought i was banned from world news, which itself was hosted on lemmy.world. like either way, nothing of value was lost to me, just confused about which shithole im banned from commenting in. Is it all of lemmy.ml, lemmy.world, or just the world news sub?

    E: grammar und clarity

  • Ya know, not been here that long, but seeing users ive tagged as "russian shill" being shat on in the communities that are not yet overrun by the trolls. Stay strong folks, and push back.

Also, inb4 the explanations given are: "waaahhh, any piece of news that doesnt come from the krem de la kremlin is propamaganda!!!"

  • For the GOP voters? 50+ yrs of highly concentrated, and pointed propaganda.

For the nonvoters? Bc their favorite social media sites (this one included) are full of russian bad faith actors working to make Status Quo Joe seem somehow worse, or, at the very least, more ineffectual, than ronald mcdump.

  • Personally im pretty far. I eat far less meat than i used to growing up. I no longer eat veal, nor is meat the staple of my each and every meal. There are many many dishes i now make that do not feature meat at all. My meat intake is probably less than 50% of what it once was. For my SO, the change is less dramatic, but also noticeable.

For me, i noticed that simply the conscious effort to decrease how much meat i consume was an easy effort to expend, and it soon turned into a game id be playing with myself, trying to see where i can limit or cut out animal byproducts.

  • Close enough?

Hey, sorry to bother you, but apparently within less than one day ive been banned from World News after calling out russian propagandists. I would like to ask for a bit of clarification on which rules of the sub ive broken. Its concerning that clear kremlin talking posts are not only espoused and upvoted, but that they hold enough sway to get those who call them out for being what they are banned.

I did not call for violence, at worst you could call this a difference of opinion. Is Lemmy this far down the propaganda hole as well?

  • I was on lemmy.world and no difference. Just pure, unadulterated, kremlin talking points at every corner. But dont u dare call em out! I saw someone point out the accidental russian spelling of a word to being swarmed downvotes.
