It's used in shredded cheese as well to prevent the cheese from sticking to itself. It's also why you don't really want to use shredded cheese in foods where the cheese needs to properly melt like grilled cheese sandwiches or pizza.
Alternatively you learned to jump through all of Window's hoops over the years of using it. Also, experience in the sense of configuration and hoops can vary wildly by distro. Linux has of course not always had the cleanest UI/UX but it's always getting better and simply does not have the level of investments as Windows or MacOS. When Linux does have investment and runs on corporate sponsored hardware it's usually pretty solid and easy to use e.g. ChromeOS, Android, and many server and cloud products. Also some people may appreciate the level of customizability that "washing clothes by hand" provides.
Use KDE, especially Plasma 6. Hasn't been an issue for me FW13 12Gen Intel since the last few Plasma 5 releases. I tried GNOME for a while but it can go pound sand.
I've been dual booting Linux and Windows 11 for years now without issue. You just need to make sure that bitlocker is disabled so you can initially resize the partition or manually set the partition size on install. EFI and split EFI partitions have made it almost impossible to break the bootloader. And if you pick popular distros you don't even have to turn off secure boot.
The workflow interruptions can be worked around with a syncing solution like Firefox sync for browser and syncthing for files. Or by using a NAS for file storage.
Hell you could even use WSL and run every Linux app you want in Windows, graphical apps too. Or you could install Proxmox on a PC and rdp into 10 different OS VMs from a thin client.
Let's be honest here reinstalling an OS is probably causing more workflow disruption than any of these other solutions. I know because I went through a distro hoping phase and it's just a huge time suck for little payout.
Yeah the big issue I've had lately is remote play together, but I can't tell if it's the Internet connection or buggy software. It just keeps dropping out and the streaming option doesn't work; which would be nice because discord doesn't stream well in gamescope mode. Some of the recent updates were targeting it but no luck.
I use the SD daily and dock it from time to time to play with my family with knockoff pro controllers. I haven't experienced any drops and I had the straight at the ground issue maybe like a year ago but haven't had any issues with it in a long time. Can't speak to any performance issues but I can confirm that the product has been getting refined.
Yeah I upgraded my Odroid and ran into some issues with Armbian but I was able to work through it thanks to this post. I guess Armbian broke the repos a little and it prevented OMV from cleanly auto updating with the script.
