  • Probably not. But there is a country to run. In the best timeline, Republicans would separate themselves from these extremists and try to compromise/work with democrats.

This is seemingly not the best timeline, so I’d guess best timeline speculation won’t happen and after the budget cr expires in November, we’ll have another shit show discussing the budget.

  • I would disagree that it’s only weightlifters. I’ve competed at an international level in a completely different sport, and my teammates have the same concerns. And this goes for people who have been selected to represent the national team and those who have not.

I’m in a sport where it’s beneficial to weigh less, and many of us are considered overweight by BMI standards.

My sport is not represented in the Olympics, so we are talking (for the most part) about normal people who like to do sport. My teammates are all teachers, doctors, IT professionals. We aren’t people who are paid to workout all day everyday.

I’d argue that many gym-goers who are dedicated (like HIIT classes, cyclers, etc) would also agree that BMI isn’t great. I don’t have any studies on hand to support my experience/anecdotal evidence. But I’ve been in sport and various gyms for 10+ years and all the trainers, coaches and athletes say the same thing: don’t look at the scale unless you need to weigh in.

  • This is a big deal and we (the public) need ways to fight back. Without competition, horrible companies can continue to get worse.

My area thankfully has municipal internet. It’s more expensive, but it’s better.

The city I came from, it was banned because of Comcast’s bribery and lobbying efforts.

  • Adding to this thought: Covid opened up more therapists to the idea of online services.

That might be an option for you. I tried to use one, but didn’t have great success. I found the level of therapists was sub par compared to in-person. But with your already not great experiences, this may be successful for you.

  • Thanks for sharing! It’s getting to a point where I no longer need a list of companies and brands I don’t buy from to a list of brands and companies I can buy from. My list of “bad” companies is so long I can’t possibly remember them all when shopping.
