  • On paper this sounds good but this sounds like another way to keep rich families rich. The only way to get into UT these days is have connections, or be really good at something like football or very high gpa. The high gpa and football people were already getting scholarships so guess who will get this new money? People that already had the money to pay for the school.

  • In my experience and speaking with transphobes I think it’s caused by our current culture of trying to force people to accept them.

Most people in my experience are happy not knowing or ignoring signs that someone is trans or gay. However when you start bringing it up in casual conversation or being overtly flamboyant for lack of a better term people start giving push back on it. I would compare it to the vegan stereotype. No one cares you’re vegan but when you constantly bring it up or try to make every conversation about you being vegan people get annoyed.

We as a society need to accept that racists and transphobes won’t change. You can’t force them to accept anything.

  • I wouldn’t say situation dependent but this is more for entry level positions. If you are in a specialized career recruiters take way more time on applications.

This is more generalized resume advice. With that said specialized positions are few and far between for many people and a specially tailored resume is more likely to lose you job opportunities for most positions.

Again you’re right it does really depend but you have to use your best judgment on what kind of job you’re applying for.

  • Stop putting cover letters on your resume. Recruiters spend 7 seconds or less on 1 resume. A cover page essentially is a skip button because we don’t see any pertinent information and move on.

Resumes should be 1 page with a layout that attracts attention but isn’t distracting. Sentences should be structured like bullet points, short, sweet, and to the point.

  • Just an observation, I hope Ukraine can make it through all this, but when this war started news was non stop how Russia was falling on their face and losing thousands of troops and equipment.

Now that trump won news is non stop Ukraine is losing ground and will fall without aid.

This is why Americans are so disillusioned with all this. The propaganda machine can’t stick to a narrative and makes people feel like everything is fake. The media in this country is so fucked and a big reason why people are so uninformed.

  • We’ll be fine. It will be a hard 4 years but based on last time trump will spend a fuck load of money to keep the masses happy. 2028 and on are going to be harder because trump will get some bullshit tax cuts passed that will target the middle class when he’s out of office.
