  • The "pay what you can" model from Piotr is pretty stunning. I'm glad the project qualifies for that.

The highest costs are servers. No surprise there.

Glad he has allocated money for legal and accounting advice.

I hope he can eventually raise enough money to pay himself.

  • In an interview with then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson in April, Musk said teased plans for his new AI venture. “We’re going to start something which I call TruthGPT,” he said, describing it as a “maximum truth-seeking AI” that “cares about understanding the universe.”

Sigh. When did this guy turn into a clown?

  • I have run both Plex and Jellyfin and I much prefer Jellyfin. I got sick of Plex content being interjected into my menus and feed. Plex also had issues seeing my server which was inconvenient. I now run Jellyfin with Infuse as my client. Love it so far.

  • Hmm, that's actually not a bad response at all. Two thoughts things brings up to me:

    • Decentralization We could use a few more "biggish" instances. Or have existing users balanced out a little more among a few more instances, however you want to think of it.
    • Support Visionary Leaders Who even are the leaders? The admins? Should we have more leadership? My gut likes the anarchy, personally.
  • Actually yes and I don’t think it’s a bad idea. Sentiment analysis is not a hard task nowadays. If overused the site would become a bunch of artificial positivity, but I think there could be a place for this. Could be part of a mod toolkit too.

  • I love this idea. It raises some issues to think about, too. Like, who “owns” that data? Would Reddit file a lawsuit against the Lemmy instance arguing that the data belongs to Reddit? Does the data belong to the users who posted? What TOS do we agree to when signing up for a Reddit account? Are we giving them ownership of all content we post?

  • The integration works just fine. My only issue with my Milas is that the smart features connect over the cloud. They say they have an update adding Homekit support soon but have been saying that for two years

    • All my lights turn on and off based on motion sensors
    • Through the unofficial community Mila integration, I control my air purifiers based on different circumstances, like whether the house is empty.
    • Collect indoor air quality info from my Airthings to view in Grafana
