  • You conveniently left out the other half of that comment in your screenshot.

You asked for examples, and I gave them in good faith. You then dismissed them one by one, not with curiosity or open disagreement, but with the kind of selective scrutiny that only ever points in one direction. And when that wasn’t enough, you started digging through my comment history for dirt and then throwing out accusations just to paint me as whatever villain fits the narrative you’ve already decided on.

This isn't just exhausting - it’s disheartening. This kind of behavior has nothing to do with actual discussion. It’s about scoring points, framing people in the worst possible light, and calling it justice. I’m not even sure you believe half the things you’re accusing me of - it just seems like an excuse to treat someone like garbage because they said something you didn’t like.

  • The problem with that is that blocking is such a blunt and indiscriminate tool. Someone might just get overly emotional about one specific topic and end up getting blocked because of it - but then that same person might be making a lot of sense in another discussion, and now their voice isn’t being heard at all. What I really need is an intelligent content filtering tool where I can specify the kind of comments I want to filter out, and it would do so based on the content of individual comments/post rather than blocking entire users.

  • It’s hilarious how you’re able to perform these mental gymnastics to dismiss/justify every single one of the examples I provided - and then immediately go digging through my comment history to make completely baseless accusations about me. I guess you ran out of charitable interpretations and benefit of the doubt while doing all that acrobatics. Good job proving OP's point.

  • Snippets from the comment history of a certain somewhat well known activer user/mod here. Obviously I'm not going to out them but there's no lack of people like this here.

    Bonus points: send a pipebomb.

I straight up want Israel gone and the land managed by the original inhabitants not some European colonists. From the river to the sea is fine.

You don’t fight the military or face them head on. You target leaders/members of the fascist government and Luigi them.

Not enough CEOs are dead. Let’s call for the “decapitation” of the “ruling elite class”.

    EDIT: This just in

  • I already ran that experiment. I blocked every user calling for violence or just generally writing mean-spirited comments - and in the end, my feed slowed to a complete halt because I had blocked virtually every active user here.

Nowadays I rely on content filtering based on keywords instead. You’ve got to be a serious jerk to get me to block you - and yeah, there are plenty of those people too.

  • I couldn’t agree more. On average, the people commenting on these threads are out of their minds. They’re constantly on the hunt for “the other,” and the moment you start making noises that don’t perfectly align with the accepted beliefs of the hivemind, you’re viciously attacked and practically forced to defend yourself against completely baseless, bad-faith ad hominem accusations.

EDIT: See the replies from FelixCress below to my other comment for a perfect example.

I even made a post about this around a week ago, asking whether a heavily moderated community exists where bad actors would be immediately shown the door. Unsurprisingly, I got attacked for that too - and was implicitly accused of being a fascist and a rapist, because of course only such people would want to have serious conversations with others capable of civil discourse, while everyone with a functioning moral compass apparently wouldn’t be able to participate - as if pushing back in a reasonable, polite manner isn’t even an option.

  • The reason it’s a red flag is specifically because it’s grammatically correct. People don’t tend to write like that online. Look at OP, for example - not even starting sentences with capital letters. That’s why it stands out when something is written too well to be human. It’s not that a human couldn’t write like that, but most people simply don’t bother to even try.

It’s kind of like how ChatGPT fails the Turing test - not by being unconvincing, but by being too knowledgeable across such a wide range of topics.

  • Food itself isn’t the issue - it’s the big chunks and oil/grease/fat. It’s better to pour it down the toilet, since the volume of water you flush it with is greater and the drain diameter there is larger as well (110 mm) compared to the pipes under your sink, which are usually 75 mm in diameter, sometimes even just 50 mm. Solids are also more likely to clog the P-trap under your kitchen sink.

Eventually, it all ends up in the same drain system anyway, so in that sense there’s no real difference.

  • Technically infinite, but with e-assist you get around 30 km of mixed trail and road riding during the summer, and more like 15 to 20 in winter. It really depends on how much assist you use. I often dial it way up on my way home, so I usually arrive with the battery effectively empty.
