Hellraiser family:-)
The funny part is how that word supposedly may translate better as "maiden" than "virgin", as in "young girl" rather than someone who has not yet had intercourse. I wonder how many people have been beheaded for asking about such things.
Jesus Himself hated such over-religiosity - "Want religion that is pure and blameless? Take care of widows and orphans!!" - but sadly it seems the natural human condition.:-( The extreme irony is how He went to LARGE efforts to just constantly and consistently give the religious fruitcakes of His day the middle finger ("thou shaltest say to every Karen, fuck ye off"), which ofc got Him killed just like everyone else who tried it previously. So like... was Jesus one of the early atheists then, if you think about it like that...? :-D /s
But I mean, in all seriousness, the gist of Jesus' message seems to me to be to ignore the fruitcakes and just do the right thing, regardless ("the worker deserves his wages..."). So like, wtf does His teenie sexed-up mommy have anything to do with anything?! But Karens gonna Karen, I guess, and get all worked up about whatever drama they can either find or invent.
That would probably lead to the absolute worst outcome - every time he opens his mouth he damages his rep further in the eyes of his followers, so we need him to keep doing that:-).
People have covered most of the bases here. The hardest part is that if you don't go back soon, you will find that door is closed to you - at least to finish what you started, without having to start mostly over again. College can definitely be worthwhile, but whether it is worthwhile TO YOU is the issue. Also, once you get used to receiving a paycheck and not living on like Ramen... it is next to impossible to go back to being poor and spending every waking moment (and beyond) studying, especially for some undefinable end goal. But on the other hand, I've seen it done with like 15-year gaps in-between dropping out, joining the army/navy/whatever and then going back to finish up. Definitely think through all the angles here, b/c you don't want to do anything that you will regret later - including wasting more time chasing something that you don't really want to begin with.
And go where? Asking for a friend...
Interesting, so blocking actually works from desktop mode? Thanks! I love the interface of Kbin and been very resistant to switching to Lemmy, plus then I'd have to tell everyone to follow me, and if I did not like the new interface than do the same again... and again, bc despite what we were told, switching later and having your profile follow you throughout the the Fediverse still is not a thing. So if there are ways to make the mobile experience better, even if it needs a minute on the desktop, that's helpful!:-)
Oh that's interesting - are you using mobile or desktop?
Also, on mobile, blocking seems to be working for me again (when accessing this thread via Notifications) - and instead of 3 pages there is now just 1 for this thread. Maybe I got thrown off by all the weirdness going on surrounding what happened during and after the blocking, combined with making a comment reply without reloading the page first, but I think you are right: it works after all!
This incident is revealing so many holes in Kbin... for instance blocking the account doesn't work, and reporting says that it doesn't work either (giving the message "We are working on resolving the issues..."), but it might be working despite that actually... I can't quite tell bc now pages 2 & 3 of this post/thread are entirely inaccessible. So moral of this story, if there is one, is that if you are on Kbin, try reporting it anyway and hope for the best outcome!:-P Edit: oh no wait, it definitely isn't working after all, bc despite that about pages 2 & 3 after posting my reply but for some reason not before, those comments are still showing up. Kbin users just need to wait it out, it seems. Edit 2: nope, it seems to actually work after all, despite how it did not look that way at first.
TLDR: Kbin users may easily get confused by the interface glitches, but while blocking someone may not work right now, reporting them may (unless it was just coincidental timing on my part), so give it a try!
Why does this sound so familiar? It's deja vu all over again...
Damn you for making me watch that. All the way to the end and beyond. In one pass. And for becoming better for having watched it.
They never say that bc every day is a good day to die.
And then empty it back out again immediately thereafter, for the uninitiated.:-|
I don't think people here are very receptive to what you are trying to say - fwiw I don't think what you want to convey can be taught in mere words, as it relates to people's underlying worldview with which they filter everything. But some of us get what you mean, no matter what words are chosen, and I want to say kudos for standing up for decency.:-)
I am not OP but the argument appears to be the difference between Justice vs. Vengeance - i.e. even actively cheering for his death is not quite the same as celebrating it happening, after the fact.
From an empirical standpoint, the concept of "race" can be useful sometimes, like black people have higher rates of Sickle Cell (and being treated poorly by ignorant people of many other races, regardless of class and other factors), while white people have higher rates of Cystic Fibrosis (and in most of the Western world, a higher rate of acting entitled).
Jewish people are not technically a race bc anyone at all can become a Jew by conversion, but as a whole they do often tend to intermarry (or used to in the past?), which does lead to some traits being shared in common, especially visible when combined with similar cultural choices to look or act or sound a certain way.
So you are right, but... I'm not certain that all instances of the opposite line of thinking is entirely wrong either, especially depending on how it is used.
Why does this entice me so, to say this?:
In mudder Russia, Doritos eat you!
Ngl, it somehow captured the spirit of Doritos quite nicely IMHO.:-)
I hear that, but also...
Well, I was doing the same, but noticed that even in the niche subs, the conversations seemed to be getting more and more... juvenile? Like prior to the Snoopacolypse (as you called it, and I love it! The term not the event in case that needs any clarification:-P), it was a point of pride for me that I had never blocked anyone in my life - whereas now I don't think twice before doing that bc who has time to waste on someone not engaging in good faith!? Especially if they lack enough self awareness to even realize that fact about themselves while they are doing it. (Tbf, possibly watching Innuendo Studios' analysis of GamerGate that uses many tactics of the Alt Right in America had something to do with my changing views as well:-).
Ymmv ofc, bc different subs means entirely different people & thus experiences interacting with them, but I'm just saying that rather than stick with the subset of that community that remained after Rexit, I eventually just find myself going or even wanting to go there less and less, instead enjoying engaging here more, even at the expense of not being able to talk about those matters. I haven't posted there for months, nor even commented for a month, and barely go once a week to read. Bc I use Kbin and the mobile browser experience here is so horrible to write a comment, I find myself not commenting here often either - but when I do I have much more fun doing so, not having to be anywhere near as defensive as that other place that shall not be named.
I hope you find something that works best for you as well, wherever that may be.
If wishes were horses, then we all would ride.
As it is, instead we will FAAFO.
I must have reached the end of the internet... anyone know how to get back? :-P
