  • Okay, since you mention Celeste, maybe you could help me out? I bought it, played it, liked it, finished it and that was about it. A short, excellent platformer I thought. Since then, I've read several times how people said Celeste had an amazing replayability and how they

sunk hundreds of hours into it

so, could you tell me what to aim for after finishing the game? Why play it again?

  • Yeah, it does have objectives. The one that got picked was very battle-centric though... And even if it hadn't been, the objectives are usually not worth enough to offset a 130-points-lead (as vessel point values are usually counted towards victory points).

  • We had an objective in play that gave additional points to critical hits that were scored. Which, in turn, meant that withdrawing the ships would also keep those points from being scored. Using other objectives might turn out better though, we'll have to pick better ones next time, I guess.

I do like the 6 round limit on general. It helps avoid an endgame where it's clear who won but you still have to keep playing.

  • Guess I should be glad I don't live in that hellhole of a messed up country then. I wholeheartedly disagree with everything you said except the first sentence, so maybe we should just be glad we live on opposite sites of the planet.

  • Ah man, this comment... 😅

I now also ordered the Separatists' and Republic's starter sets as well to get more dice and additional rulers as well as those ships for maybe some smaller games. They're about 50 bucks each while dice and rulers seem to be unavailable and sell for about 20 each, if you can even find some. Man, I'm hyped for the stuff to arrive.

  • Yeah, I'm writing this on an s10e but the battery really isn't that good anymore and the lack of security updates doesn't feel good either. The current s series phones are roughly the same size as the e though, so I hope it'll be okay.

That said, even the e is a bit too large for my taste. The top left corner is pretty much out of reach without adjusting your grip, so about half an inch less of screen would be preferable imho. Samsung's one handed mode is much better than the android default though, which kind of makes up for it - and there's just nothing smaller available.

  • Hey! Thanks so much for the info! And wow, that was a great, in-depth reply!

I really don't plan to play competitively... It's really just to have some of those big dinghies on the field and a nice time with a friend or my son, so odd rating schemes on tournaments or competitive lists gravitating towards an optimum doesn't really concern me. Yet. ;)

I would wager you will have a blast with what you've purchased.

Awesome! That's what I needed to hear! Thank you! :) I am still concerned about the lack of rebel squadrons though... And it seems that the rebel units I got are worth about 400 pts in total (which is the standard play size if I understood that correctly), so I hope I won't be annoyed by the lack of variety after a few matches. You saying it'll be good gives me peace of mind for now though.

To be fair, I have kept spending money after I posted this and ordered a 6x3 neoprene mat with a fancy space image to have something to play on and I'm looking for some Armada dice sets which seem to be no longer available in Germany, which is probably going to annoy me terribly as online people seem to agree that more dice are kind of required. I learned that custom dice are expensive though, so I'll just see how to deal with this.

  • I really like my two-and-a-half-tonnes death machine. It's small, but can still haul enough that it works perfectly fine for when I need to dispose bodies that I just ran over. But also it's definitely not fuel efficient in the way that I'd want it to be. I wish they made something that size but newer.

  • Eventually the cost of keeping and the benefit gained from returning them might become greater than the benefit gained from their leverage, which is when they'll be returned. However, that remains to be seen. If, eventually, the hostages' wellbeing can be used to force the IDF's hand in Hamas' favour, I doubt they'll be returned anytime soon, if at all.

  • there's nothing mandatory

    It's just common sense

It's bewildering to me how you don't see the contradiction here. If you say it's common sense then it's so ingrained into your work culture that it might not be mandatory but still very well part of the unwritten laws governing how you work together. Not being scolded for not following it does not mean that people will not talk about it behind your back. These rules are the foundation of mobbing and bullying. None of that is an official rule but it can very well be considered mandatory if you say it's common sense to follow it.

it;'s being thought in communication courses etc just like when picking up phone you first say greetings, say company name, then your name.

I was never taught any of this and I also don't do that. Company name first? Never did that and never had anybody mention to me that I should change my behaviour in that regard.

Everything you say sounds weird as fuck to me. Would you mind telling me what country you're from?

  • So if you send email to the owner of the compane and to your colleagues on same level you put boss at last spot if they come to your mind as last?

Exactly. That's how I always did it and will keep doing it. Anything else sounds absolutely weird to me.

There is no mention of it being mandatory in my post

There kind of is. Because you make it sound like it's not a written rule per se but still very much a social convention that people kind of expect you to follow.

It's similar thing to as when we used to hold door to next person so they don't get smashed by it. boss > colleagues > intern.

So this is where it gets really weird. What is that even supposed to mean? How is the position in the company relevant to holding doors? If there's an intern behind me, I hold his door open. If it's the boss I do the same. Just like I'd expect both of them to do the same for me and each other. What is your list even supposed to mean? You don't hold doors for interns? Your boss doesn't do it for you? What kind of sociopathic hellhole of a system do you work in? Do you participate in that?

I once worked in a company where my supervisor demanded I'd prepare coffee for him and completely lost it when I wanted to discuss how exactly that was part of my job as a researcher. His point was that his boss had always expected his orders to be followed, no questions asked, and he'd expect the same thing from me. Needless to say I left that fucker as soon as I had another contract available (and never prepared his fucking coffee). This kind of hierarchical thinking may be appropriate for the army but certainly not for an ordinary company.
