Weird how neither of those numbers are infinities. Almost like the numbers used are unfathomably small in comparison.

I would place money on some enthusiast somewhere having typed up Hamlet on a typewriter just for kicks. Surely in the hundreds of years of overlap between humanity, Hamlet, and typewriters, it's happened once. I'd be more concerned with typos.

I think the point is less about any kind of route to Hamlet, and more about the absurdity of infinite tries in a finite space(time). There are a finite (but extremely large) number of configurations of English characters in a work the length of Hamlet. If you have truly an infinite number of attempts (monkeys, time, or both are actually infinite) and the trials are all truly random (every character is guaranteed to have the same chance as every other) then you will necessarily arrive at that configuration eventually.

As far as your process, of procedurally generating each letter one by one until you have the completed works, we actually have a monkey who more or less did that already. His name is William.

Why must the concept of time before the big bang (or after our heat death) exist in our physical reality for us to speculate about theoretical infinities past those? The thought experiment is about _infinite time, not all the time in our limited universe. A lot of things happen at infinity that break down as soon as you add a limit, but we're not talking limits when we're talking infinity.

Garbage in; garbage out. Using AI tools is a skillset. I've had great use with LLMs and generative AI both, you just have to use the tools to their strengths.

LLMs are language models. People run into issues when they try to use them for things not language related. Conversely, it's wonderful for other tasks. I use it to tone check things I'm unsure about. Or feed it ideas and let it run with them in ways I don't think to. It doesn't come up with too much groundbreaking or new on its own, but I think of it as kinda a "shuffle" button, taking what I have already largely put together, and messing around with it til it becomes something new.

Generative AI isn't going to make you the next mona Lisa, but it can make some pretty good art. It, once again, requires a human to work with it, though. You can't just tell it to spit out an image and expect 100% quality, 100% of the time. Instead, it's useful to get a basic idea of what you want in place, then take it to another proper photo editor, or inpainting, or some other kind of post processing to refine it. I have some degree of aphantasia - I have a hard time forming and holding detailed mental images. This kind of AI approaches art in a way that finally kinda makes sense for my brain, so it's frustrating seeing it shot down by people who don't actually understand it.

I think no one likes any new fad that's shoved down their throats. AI doesn't belong in everything. We already have a million chocolate chip cookie recipes, and chatgpt doesn't have taste buds. Stop using this stuff for tasks it wasn't meant for (unless it's a novelty "because we could" kind of way) and it becomes a lot more palatable.

I miss my note20. I'm a behemoth, with massive hands, so it was just the right one-hand size for me hah. It was also just a quality phone that survived a lot of abuse. Contrast to my pixel 7 pro, that I bought for one feature, and whose screen has had numerous issues in the year I've had it... Not happy with that switch.

Practically, outside of second-hand sales, there's no difference between e.g. GOGs offline installer and a physical copy of the game. No, you don't technically own it, but for all intents and purposes you do.

Fair and valid point I had not considered. I guess I'd prefer to have a separated bike lane with proper dividers anyway, but either way, you raise a point I had not considered.

I'm 50/50 on them. I wish they were more like traditional bumps, covering the whole road so there wasn't really an "avoiding" them. How they're implemented now encourages drivers to aim for the space between, leading to swerving.

The roads I've seen them on, they've done their job - traffic is significantly reduced down then. They're supposed to be unpleasant, but they should be equally unpleasant for all vehicles hahah.

Another small gripe I have with them is unclear signage. Particularly if they're not safe to take at/near the speed limit, each one NEEDS to be marked. They can be hard to see from a distance and slowing down takes time. A lot on certain roads here are missing signage, making the whole thing even more unsafe than if they just didn't install the bumps.

That is explains why steam keeps pushing until dawn to me. I didn't realize it was a remake. I thought it was literally the same game, there was NO way that game had a re-release, and it isn't exactly a dlc type of game. Wow.

There is no ethical consumption, afterall. Pick the hill that works best for you, and die on it I suppose.

Depending on your perspective, the sell/trade/loan aspect of physical can be a huge deal. I outlined in another comment, selling/trading games was never my thing, but it was my cousins. From my perspective, there's marginal difference, but there IS a difference.

I would ABSOLUTELY argue that you more own a game purchased on gog, with an offline installer, than one purchased on steam. I now see the functional difference between owning a drm-free installer vs owning a physical game, but there's also a gulf of difference between steam and gog
