There's a few parenting focused ones that have popped up. Namely !dads@feddit.uk and !fatherverse@midwest.social. I wonder if it's just a case of having a relatively small pool of people spread out across multiple communities?
I knew what I was getting myself into...and yet, even then I'm surprised by just how little time I get to myself. Maybe an hour in the evening... assuming all things go okay with regards to bedtime.
Meal Prep is something I have got to get Into. I'm diabetic, and I've got two small kids so more often than not I just eat whatever I can find. Little work on a Sunday might go a long way.
Just not having to worry about them turning into a nightmare if they skip their nap would be a win. Now don't get me wrong, I love his Monday nap when his big-sister is at school......but when I want to out on the weekend it can definitely cause issues...cause the kid just doesn't nap unless he's in his cot.
When the 2 year old is 5 it'll be much more enjoyable. At the moment he's still just about young enough that we have to work around him for a lot of things.
I've got kids so my weekends are...well not mine. In the Before Time however, things were much different.
Typically we'd have a three day weekend (overnight work yay). The Sunday was a mess because we'd been working the previous night so we'd spend a lot of that day in bed napping and just chilling out. Monday was the day we'd usually give to seeing others and running errands so that Tuesday we could do as little as possible, play games, maybe go get food. Wednesday (before 3 when we'd go to bed before our shift) was usually just lounging around the house.
Our weekends were amazing....and now here I am being held hostage against my will by a 6 year old and a 2 year old. Help
The Deck is by far and away the most popular device in that space, and we're already seeing developers targeting the Deck's specs to make games run well on it.
Competition in this regard is great for users, not because it pushes developers to raise their game, but because it's going to push Valve to raise theirs.
I can't think of a product that was improved by a lack of competition.
I think most people are on the side of taking action, it's just that we either can't decide upon the action to take, or we're gaslighted into thinking it's all already over, and therefore there's no point in doing anything, or holding anyone to account.
Benefit Street and its ilk did untold damage to our society. Yes, there are surely a few people who take the absolute piss, but they're in such a minority that it barely makes sense talking about them.
The vast majority of those claiming benefits are struggling, and working for a living no less.
Maybe instead of getting upset that someone has found a way to con the system we should be getting upset at employers who pay piss poor wages safe in the knowledge that the government will subsidize their poverty wages with Universal Credit.
Can't speak to the hardware question but the game itself is definitely worth playing, especially with headphones.
It's one of the few games that I think everyone should experience at least a little of. The puzzles can be a little meh, and the combat is fiiiiiiine, but where the game really shines is in its atmosphere, world design and use of FMV and audio to really sell it's story and put you inside the protagonist head.
I'm on my second re-read and whilst I agree it's a bit frustrating, there's still so much good stuff to enjoy along the way that I'd recommend sticking with it if you're enjoying it. You got this!
I really struggle with my mental health, and some of that is the weight of being a parent......
That said, walking in from a long day of lugging boxes at work and seeing and hearing my young kids running to the door yelling 'Daddddyyyyy' is pretty great.
