Used to work in a pretty sizable Sainsbury's up until last year. I never dealt with physical abuse from a customer, but I did hear about a fair bit of it, especially from the female members of staff.
Customers would come in and start being incredibly inappropriate to them. You'd hear that one customer had patted them on the bottom, or grabbed their hand. One customer would routinely come in and start trying to kiss my partner's hand (we worked together). You report this behaviour to management and at best it's laughed off.
Don't even get me started on the behaviour some customers think they're entitled to push on staff who are unfortunate enough to have to do reductions in the evening; grabbing, pushing, shouting, you name it, it's done. Management are adamant it has to be done on the shop floor though, why? You tell me.
Ultimately what I'm trying to say is that a lot of these sort of things might be less prominent if management came out and backed their colleagues when a customer was showing signs of being a t*at. Fitting them with cameras makes it look like another profit protection measure.
I didn't think I needed more 2D Mario until I saw this. I basically skipped over the entire New Super Mario line and whilst I did fall in love with Mario Maker 2 I thought it was a phase I'd gone through.
Speaking of Mario Maker. I wonder how much inspiration the development team took from those games when coming up with Wonders more... experimental levels.
Virginia and What Remains of Edith Finch are two of my favourite narrative experiences. I've played through both of them a few times and I'm always eager to go back.
I've only got two and it absolutely kicks my ass on a daily basis. I've got no idea why anyone would want more than two, let alone eleven. Absolute madness I tell ya!
I'm not a big CRPG guy but all this talk about Balder's Gate has definitely sparked my interests, that said there's three or four games coming out in the next month that I'd much more likely to enjoy (Trine, Lies of P, LOTF and Starfield) so I'll hold off and wait for a price reduction.
If I say anything approaching a racial slur at work I'll get canned immediately. How bad is this problem that in the year 2023 they've only just got around to saying it's not tolerated?
Trying not to commit to anything too strenious with Lies of P and Starfield on the horizon, but I have found the time to start two games over the last few days. Those games are:
XCOM: Chimera Squad
It's an XCOM game. I'll probably play a it until I inevitably make a mess of the base management stuff and find my city in ruins, you know, like every other XCOM game that's come out over the last decade.
The Life And Sufferings of Sir Brante
I started this today and I'm kind of blown away by it in all honesty. It's a story heavy RPG where you play the role a child born into a semi-noble family. During the game you'll do an awful lot of reading and then make decisions and judgements based on the character your playing. I'm maybe 2 hours in so far and it's unlike anything I've ever played.
I think for now it's probably easier and cleaner if we keep it to one image per post. If the community ultimately decides that's not a good move going forward then I'm happy to reevaluate a little down the line.
Customers are significantly less likely to try and pocket something if there's a risk of them being called up on it, or actually caught on camera.
Even if they never actually catch anyone, the fact that people can see the cameras would likely serve as a deterrent.
