  • If anyone wants to know how to spot when someone has a clear and extreme bias, one can spot it very clearly in the comment above.

When someone lists a group's (religion, race, ethnicity) existence as a negative along with things like "lawlessness, state torn to shreds", you now have a firm understanding of who they're willing to dehumanize to make their points.

  • Rumored? Nah friend, there's enough evidence to believe the majority of the rumors. And nobody is saying Charles killed the kids or raped the villagers, they're saying he benefits from a dynasty and wealth built on the backs of those people, and so deserves no respect or allegiance. And that's outside of the fact that the monarchy means fuck-all to Canada at this point. In Britain, at the seat of their power? Sure, maybe. But across the pond where the culture, people, laws, food, history are different? Fuck the crown and anyone with an ordained 'right' to rule.

  • This is a massive rant with no points related to the actual conversation at hand, sort of just 5 or 6 point thrown out without extrapolation.

I think I get the general gist of what you're pointing to, but I just don't see it. People said 'if you support Trump (who actively said racist, misogynistic, and deplorable things) then you support those people/ideologies' and that's not even an insult, it's a fact.

There's no flood of media im seeing saying 'all boys are bad and should feel bad'. I AM seeing a flood of "men aren't being held accountable for their actions, and that's influencing how young boys perceive the outcomes"

  • You can say Israel has the right to defend itself and mean it as long as you're talking about the immediate retaliation (even then, as a nation with access to high level intelligence and technology, the responses civilian death was still unacceptable).

You CANNOT say it in relation to the months that came after. Israel isn't 'defending itself' anymore, their borders aren't in dire need, their citizens as a whole are not in danger. But, similar to Russia prior to Ukraine's successful long range strikes into their territory, Israel will spout nonsense about protecting it's citizens that see danger on a scale 1/10000th of that of the occupied territory of Gaza.

  • I wouldn't say that's contrarianism. I've heard criticism for Jerry Seinfeld's comedy since at least 2004, calling out observation comics as a whole was trending at the time of his show even. Larry David made that show great, and some of the cast played their roles really well, Jerry Seinfeld wasn't one of them for me and seemingly a lot of people.

  • Endorsing a candidate or a party places an additional seal of approval on the actions and beliefs of that candidate/party. There's a difference between saying "between ham or fish, I pick fish" and "I believe fish is the right choice for everyone, fish has qualities that I myself would like to emulate and believe in".

  • She's a pop singer who seemingly upset a lot of internet people (but not many real people) for saying "yeah, I'm voting for Kamala, but I won't endorse her because the democratic party hasn't done enough for the LGBTQ or minority groups and I'm not keen on the Israel support thing"

  • No it's a joke and a trend from a video on tiktok. Why do people, especially here lately, jump to hate on anything 'TikTok' or 'new' from the younger generations? We all had our stupidity, shit, people STILL staple bread on trees

  • Please and thank you don't violate barriers. It does not allow someone into your space, you don't have to give anything of yourself to say them, and if you're a good person you probably mean them. A better example for what you're looking for would be handshakes. It's common in most western cultures at several social functions, and it can be considered rather rude to refuse one, it got a lot of folks angry during covid apparently. That's where two parties acknowledge the social bindings that call for a physical touch establishing a mutual respect. I never miss saying a please and thank you, but best believe I'm still doing the 'covid shrug' when I turn down handshakes.

So, you'd tell your child that "yes, you have autonomy in this, but your feelings regarding your need for personal space matter less than your grandmother's want for a hug" is what I'm gathering? Do you educate your mother on the child's wants/needs? There's a reason why people are educated that, as far as physical touch is concerned, nobody else's feelings should be taken into account. If someone can't love a child without hugs, then I don't think they really understand the concept or application of love.

I'm not saying this is your case, the next bit is an extreme but important to the overall argument, I think. People have identified that exact thinking pattern in why they didn't report sexual assault from a family member. Because they weren't taught how to properly say no and why the right to refuse touch is important, it was that much easier to abuse them.

  • I dont like my picture on the internet. So I refuse all photos where possible. I have family, they take pictures, they're aware of this and so I'm never the direct focus of the shot (you might see me in the background).

OP said they don't want to take pictures with people, they shouldn't have to take pictures with someone. Instead, you should be teaching your son to stand up for their boundaries, even in the face of 'tradition'. If your kid says "I don't like hugging grandma", are you making them give hugs or are you encouraging them to tell people in their life, who they trust, how they feel?
