  • Honestly, we don't know. Average laptop screens haven't had any major improvements since IPS, so I think the screens have longevity. RAM and processors are more focused on lower power nowadays. Framework has already shipped "drop-in" replacement boards, and their whole company is based around that idea.

If I had the money and i could afford to wait, I'd be willing to take a bet on Framework. I think the frame of the laptop will hold up as well as any other, but it's only been a few years so who actually knows.

Laptops from 6 years ago hold up well enough, except the batteries and main boards, if I could have replaced my old main board with a more modern processor and gpu I never would have had to upgrade.

  • There's a ton of nuance on this issue, and I support people as long as they don't do the things you said.

It was the same thing with the freedom convoys, if they had ejected radicals and Nazis, I would have been inclined to listen. If these protests start supporting Hamas, or not ejected people who do then they would lose my support.

I have not seen any antisemitism, or support of Hamas in any of these protests, so far just a lot of concern for people who are being oppressed by a significantly more powerful body politic.

  • I think this is because TNG had a very serious tone, and very ridiculous plots. Surface level they spent a lot of time adjusting shirts and trying to act prim and respectful with horns and orchestra in the background, then someone turns into a spider.

I think this causes people to see different things in it.

  • I'm an absolute whore of a human for Mitsubishi 'Uni' Pens. I don't even like writing, but their Jetstream line are cheap and should be the ubiquitous goto pen. Everytime I have to pick up a bic, I die a little inside.

  • I can only assume it's wayland causing the crash. When I run gnome45 in x11, it suspends and resumes normally, but when I run in wayland upon resume everything is gone, regardless of what was running. I've combed through dmesg to find out what's happening but it hasn't been too fruitful so far.

  • If people want to use Brave, or Windows, or install screen doors on their submarines who am I to complain?

The fact is for a lot of people, Brave offers a superior out of box experience compared to firefox or almost any other browser. In terms of ad blocking, speed and ease of use, it's pretty much second to none. The fact that you install it and go is really appealing and how easy they make the slider to adjust the aggressiveness of the script blocking is great ui that my dad mother could use.

Yes, the company isn't very good, it's headed by a guy with a questionable history and has a poor track record when it comes to monetization strategy. I stopped using Brave this year, but for ages it was my goto because I could just install it and have an improved web experience.

  • Epictitus suggested that the world consists of two things, those you can assert control over and those you cannot. In order to lead a good life, you shouldn't spend energy on the things you have no control over. I've had a couple real bad stretches, but when things turn pear shaped, I take account of the things I have control over and what I don't.
