  • Kind of an an-prim take. Understand the technology you're using. The only thing you should take for granted is that any opportunity tech has to spy on you has already been exploited by multiple outlets. Use your worst possible faith and you'll probably still fall short of what's happening.

  • If I ever get off my ass and make that game I am going to rub my nipples and respond every time a mac user sends in a support ticket asking why their game isn't working with "because it's a mac"

  • Germany never underwent denazification, and now they're weaponizing anti-holocaust denial laws to protect the genocide in Gaza. If you so much as suggest that what Zionists are doing is an extension of the holocaust, or that the nazis supported Zionism, you're an anti-semite. Meanwhile Zionists are mass murdering Jewish people and Palestinians alike with impunity, both of which are Semites, and you're not allowed even allowed to acknowledge that fact. A lot of the loudest voices are Jewish activists and they're just throwing the book at them.

EDIT: and conflating Judaism and Zionism is also anti-semitism, and if i'm not mistaken German law literally says the opposite.

  • Remember when people on the left were saying that the only climate action is ending capitalism and degrowing and all anyone had to say was "But green growth!" Well that thing we said was going to happen is happening: That they were lying about the "green" and only wanted the "growth" except now it's even worse because that growth isn't going to making people's lives better, it's going to wars and genocides.

  • I've had times where i'll have a negative interaction with someone on lemmy and see them later in another thread and they're cool again. On Mastodon if you have a single bad experience you've probably already blocked each other and that chance to reconcile never comes up again.

  • That show was a masterpiece that literally nobody talks about. They did the impossible of making a flawed cast that wasn't just full of awful people who the writers desperately try to make you like (often through justifying extremely problematically) Their flaws are a key part of their characters, but don't define them as a character. It also allows them to organically go back on continuity shifts, because in the real world change isn't either instant or not at all, it's a cycle of diminishing relapses and rebounds. The ups and downs make for great content.
