  • I'm not sure - all I can say is that it wasn't a problem on any other device I tried out. There seems to be an odd bug with the Deck on dual band routers but I have no idea what the root cause is.

  • So the source code gets turned into a .exe (or equivalent) when it gets compiled right? What stops it from being decompiled? Do the developers add in some kind of cipher? Or is it just that working out what the low level code does in the exe is very difficult?

  • As a layperson, what's valuable about the source code in particular?

  • I had issues with my 2.4Ghz band until I turned off the automatic channel switching (i.e. channels 1 to 14) on my router. For some reason it was confusing the Steam Deck.

  • Big corporation: Whoops, we lost this game so we can't re-release it. Sorry. Even if we found it, it's not worth our time/money porting it.

Meanwhile, random person on the internet: I've updated this emulator so you can play old games at 4k 60fps for free. The weird bug that was never fixed at launch is now gone too.

  • It depends on the game. For something like COD, it feels like it goes against the fast-paced nature of the game. However, in squad-based games like Battlefield it's a sensible tactic. You want to observe your surroundings and do some overwatch rather than running in guns blazing. (However if you're just sitting on a hill sniping other snipers for 30 minutes rather than playing the objective it can be annoying).

  • That's actually a very simple solution that I imagine would be pretty effective!

It leads me to wonder - is the granular separation more pronounced in a horizonal section (where you'd have more surface area for particles to fall between) or a vertical section (where gravity would have a greater effect)?

  • I feel like people will still continue to draw/paint etc. for the enjoyment of it but perhaps it will be a less viable career choice. Current artists will feel more and more pressured to incorporate some level of AI generation into their process, before they become overtaken by those who have adapted. That could start out as people using AI generated textures or backgrounds within their art for example.

  • If anyone knows where to buy muesli ingredients in bulk in the UK I'd be interested to hear!

  • Yes I guess that would help, as long as I don't over shake it and cause the same problem in the opposite direction

  • Having the ingredients in individual containers is a good idea! However I usually buy a pre-made muesli mix and surprisingly it seems to work out very cheap compared to buying the individual ingredients (unless perhaps I was to buy them in bulk somewhere). I'm not sure I can beat £2 for 1kg of muesli from Aldi. It's convenient too, but then I run into the separation issues of course.

  • Yes Murder by Numbers is excellent! I highly recommend it if you like picross and Ace Attorney

  • Thank you for this comprehensive response. Out of interest, do you think that certain artist jobs/genres will survive? For example, I would imagine that humans can innovate better than an AI trained on existing data. So perhaps we'll see a shift towards more human-created modern/post-AI art?

  • Yeah I'd also never heard of that one. I'm not a big fan of the really small puzzles though. I've got enough Picross to last years from the mainline series anyway :D

  • Clearly it's a shark with a Karen haircut about to fire red icicles into grey sperm giving each other piggybacks.

  • Love this series. I've played nonogram games on other platforms, but nothing comes close to the level of quality Jupiter puts out.

Hope they do end up making more collaborations!

  • I can only assume that they got the pink text in the wrong order somehow.. if you reorder those words it would make sense. How that happened though, no idea

  • I'm from the UK and someone has already given some good suggestions. So instead I'll recommend some French authors that I really love:

Alexander Dumas - if you want a great adventure. I can't recommend the The Count of Monte Cristo enough. It's an epic tale of revenge. Victor Hugo - for something that will make you question your morals. Les Misérables is a classic and has some incredible moral dilemmas. Jules Verne - Fun stories of early science fiction. 20 thousand leagues under the sea is an enjoyable journey with a surprising amount of science.

  • Whoa that's awesome. If it's not immediately clear from the title, this is the Science Museum in London. If you've ever in London, I'd highly recommend it - loads to see (including an IMAX). This arcade looks huge and I love how they've split it into different eras and genres.

  • Yeah in the case of the 3.5mm jack it disables the onboard mic, but still lets you use the mic on your headphones, if they have one.

Looking into Bluetooth headsets, it appears that Valve has disabled them. I tried following the guide here but that ended up disabling all output sources entirely for some reason...
