  • I switched over to this last month, and I'm already a fan of it. It did take a bit of time to port over my old shtitty excel tracking, and to write a few python scripts to parse the export CSV files from each of my bank accounts, but it is very clearly worth it.

One of the nice things is that it uses a SQLite db to store everything, so if shit ever hits the fan with one of my drives or the software, it isn't the end of the world.

  • I'm not sure of the volume of that system, how to get it. But I wonder if man made strip mines like these would compare:

They go on for miles, are huge, and theoretically could go on for basically forever.

  • I prefer companies owned by many people over one person or family owning the company.

Agreed, which is why the stock market needs to go. The only way for labor to truly own their workplace is if they're the only ones who can control it (within reason). A stock market allows for the rich to single-handedly buy up a majority of the shares and control a company.

Instead, every company should eventually be turned into co-op nonprofits.

  • because it would just be to hard to make money at some point that we would want to titrate to make sure no company becomes a monopoly.

Sure, however having multiple avenues of preventing megacorps from forming is better. It's easy for a powerful corp to undo one or two regulations, but not so much if it is a cohesive system of regulations.

Honestly I think we should outlaw holding companies and such.

    Absolutely agreed.

Only allow stock to be owned individually by individuals.

I'd say we should go a step further and kill the stock market in it's entirety through a moratorium on IPOs.

  • Ignoring the myriad of other issues listed in this thread, the bit about training AI is pretty misleading. It's not hard to scrape webpages for whatever kind of data you like, even if loops doesn't outright hand things over for third parties for that purpose.

And the kind of people who are downloading the entire internet to train AIs are the type to be willing to just scrape without permission.

  • Tree Style Tab which I cannot live without. Firefox having something like that by default instead of an extension would be nice.

Been using TST for a while now, and I whole heartedly agree. Given that it's essentially just some CSS, I can't imagine that it would be difficult at all to support natively.

  • Are you seriously trying to compare the 2?

You're a fool if you think that the lives of queer people aren't in danger from GOP policy.

Having concern isn't the same thing as comparison, or even statement of equality. Quit assuming bullshit.

  • You're not being creative enough. You could have a bowl/cup of grapes, and use that. Or maybe alternatively you could blend/mash them up, let them dry out a bit to stiffen up, then use that.
