I'm not worried about it if he loses. He's just some guy. If people start to get violent on his behalf, they get arrested.

The scary part is if he wins in 2024 and has another Jan 6th (and the related effort to stay in power) after his term should have ended.

Makes me wonder if we could get an open source Google-style ad platform that only works in the fediverse and directly funds whoever's server is being used.

That's a pretty common body posture tell.

For money. Whoever buys it has to pay you for it. Shutting down just means leaving a gaping hole in American social media that some other company will fill and you'll be in the same position but with less money.

It's very funny that the workable compromise between "this is important for national security" and "this infringes on basic liberty" is "maybe we just do it for 2 years and see how we feel after that."

Surely you can't add 36 million shares without impacting the share price, and the diluted per-share value impacts every stock he owns, not just the new ones.

I don't know how the math pencils out but I would be surprised if the value of his total ownership stake increases by a billion dollars with all that math working against it.

I don't like Trump politically but I'm just not into this schadenfreude journalism. "This guy had an upsetting experience in court...ISNT THAT COOL?"

No, it's a criminal trial. The point isn't to get the defendant to feel bad, it is to have justice served, whichever way that goes.

If I could make the trade where Trump has his best most successful and happy life, but it's 100% outside politics, I'd happily do it instantly. I don't want him to suffer, I want him to fail in his political goals.

And Trump just copied the slogan from Reagan anyway.

I hate how the human body clearly atrophies with disuse. I'm working hard now and saving for retirement, early retirement, but if I achieve my goal of a slow relaxed retirement with no stress... I'm more likely to experience cognitive decline and die early.

But if I shouldn't be trying to retire early, should I be working until I die? That kind of sucks too.

I think bad reviews can kill companies. If they are objective and honest, the review is not the core issue, the bad product is the issue.

But it is possible to have biased reviews, or dishonestly framed reviews. MKBHD is honest and objective, but you can't take for granted that every reviewer is.

I'm apparently the only person who didn't like Conan on Hot Ones. Felt so forced to me. Conan is so good at the long form interviews and conversations and he doesn't need prepared bits, I wanted a deep and delving conversation. Wonder if Conan was insecure about being on the receiving end of questions for once.

A US company selling F35s doesn't make them responsible for everything that F35 ever does. There were no American decision makers saying to bomb the Iranian embassy. There was a US decision maker when the US (prior administration) killed Qasem Soleimani, blame them for that. You have to see the clear daylight between killing someone with a gun and selling someone a rifle they later use for murder.

Promising to protect Israel is a tactic to prevent retaliation, obviously. If you asked the Vatican I'd bet they are against Iran retaliating. It doesn't retroactively cause blame for Israel's actions to shift to everyone who doesn't want Iran to retaliate.

Youtube Shorts hasn't done this for me (I actually follow some creators that make shorts so it's usually them) but Facebook's version is infuriatingly just like this and also I can't get rid of them. Every time I see one I go to the dots and select "don't see any more of these" but they just keep showing up and it's always some girl doing a yoga pose in a bikini, camera decidedly pointed directly at her vagina.

That's a pretty huge detour to take to decide that Iran attacking Israel for an action Israel took is Joe Biden's fault. Things are allowed to happen in the world without them being the fault of the US.
