  • imo truenas because it’s made for storage. It will monitor your drives, it’s easy to expand storage. Want nextcloud? It’s a plugin ready to install. Want plex media server? Just add the plugin. Need backups of your machines? Try the backuppc plugin.

Core is based on frebsd, while scale is Debian. While scale is fun I’m still a core-fan.
Samba on a Debian box works as well if all you want is smb. But it’s a you made it you support it solution. On Truenas there’s loads of people making sure it’s secure and working and updating is a button.

  • Nah - they’d retaliate (not necessarily nuclear) as they don’t like nukes in their part of the world.
This is assuming the subs could fire their nukes, that the rockets would go where intended and the nukes not being intercepted.
Recent events shows that there’s a difference between testing weapons in controlled environments and using them for real.

  • I’m sorry I didn’t enjoy the joke as the fallacy was all I saw. It wasn’t funny to me.

I’m not sure you grasp the fallacy as your examples are not fallacies.

It’s not that the book was unbelievable like a super-hero, it was just that the punchline did away with the dying part, which is what I saw as the setup in the joke.

  • You can use a reverse proxy for TCP and HTTP(s), and do port forwarding for other services.
OpenVPN can be bridged as well so all devices attached to your ap/router can be on the same broadcast. I’d rate this as fairly advanced but it’s possible. See here for details

Edit: without a bridge you will have double NAT, but that’s not too much of an issue imo.

  • Same - never used it before, it was high up on my Google search and I was pleasantly surprised. Not sure how good it is but the photo looks like the thistles my SO likes in the garden

  • Here’s what astica.ai said:

The image captures a beautiful moment in nature with a close-up of a bee delicately perched on a vivid purple flower. The flower is identified as a variety of thistle, possibly an artichoke thistle or a European marsh thistle, with its distinctive spear-like shape. The thistle stands out against a soft yellow background that adds a warm touch to the scene. The bee, a vital pollinator, is seen foraging on the flower, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between flora and fauna. The overall image, set outdoors, offers a vibrant, colorful display of the natural world. It's a striking depiction of the intricacy and beauty of our ecosystem.

  • I’ve had quite a few asus devices - some still running today. They’re great for non tinkering people. What you can do is scavenge components like connectors and maybe reuse the plastic shell adding your own hw inside.

  • I don’t disagree, but I think that we can remove most of that and still have electric lorries delivering goods.

Busses, trains, trams etc instead of cars, with good parking I rural commute hubs
